Contacting the Administrator/Moderator

Postby Zahavah » Sun Nov 20, 2005 11:52 pm

As a new member, I would like it if there was a more obvious link to click when trying to contact the Administrator or Moderator. Could the words Administrator and Moderator be bolded and in a bright color? Could they have a box next to them to be checked or underscored so that they are hyperlinks?

Also, it would be helpful if new people wanting to register could see in the registration page the information that either the Administrator or Moderator would be sending the applicant an email that would contain a link for the applicant to click in order to activate their membership.

I only submit these submissions because I found it confusing as to why, after registering and noting down my user name and password, I couldn't log on to the Forum.

I really like this forum - It's very informative.

Thanks,
Zahavah

Thank you for your comments and compliments.

We run this thing in our spare time as a personal project to help others get information we wished we had before ordering automated boxes. As such, we pretty much let this thing run as is...

I will let Jeff know that your comments are out here. If there is anything he can do easily, he'll do it. If it takes a lot of time, he'll probably leave things as they are. Me? I'm worthless and can't do anything but type. :)

We appreciate your participation. Every person on this board helps make it a great resource for others.

How is the for slow response ;)

First of all, I agree 100% with your suggestions.

Unfortunately the software that runs this forum (phpBB) is really a piece of crap, but it's free, so that makes it just what the doctor ordered!

Often it is a pain to retain customizations when upgrading phpBB, and it's necessary to upgrade phpBB fairly often due to security issues. Spammers absolutely love to screw with web-based forums. Anyway, I try to keep the software as unmodified as possible to avoid issues when security fixes come out.

I hope that phpBB 3.x will come out sometime in 2006 and fix a lot of things ...
