BIG old CAT-eats like a horse-thats not all he does like one

HELP..My 28lb Maine Coon cat defeats the LM900. The Littermaid strains and often can't clear box without help. It would be fine if it had a more powerful motor instead of the dinky $6 ONE THAT IS IN THIS EXPENSIVE PRODUCT. Any suggestions out there?

Read the reviews on the Litter Robot, Scoopfree, and Cat Genie. I have had a Litter Robot and Scoopfree myself and both work well. However each might have a small drawback if your cat produces that much waste. The Litter Robot has a smallish drawer, even the new larger one, and the waste can smear on the globe if it piles up to high. They put a bar in the middle that distributes the waste a bit better though from what I hear, so as long as you can clean it out before it gets to that point, it should be fine. The Scoopfree has a pretty powerful rake from what I can tell and the crystals dehydrate the waste so it becomes smaller. However, the space that it has to push the waste into isn’t huge so not sure how it would work with your cat, but the space is sufficient for most cats from what I have heard others say. I have 4 (recently 5) who used it and it works great for me. I am contemplating buying a Cat Genie and the only problems I have heard with it is if your cat has really hard waste, it can clog it up. Also you have to have access to water, electric and waste removal pluming to hook it up.

Dawn :)

Lots of Choices

There are several options depending on what you are looking for.
For about the same price there is the PetSafe Simply Clean Litter box that I have been having good luck with. http://www.litterbox-central.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1312
For more money there is Litter Robot which lots of people seem to like as well, you can read there opinions in the forum. http://www.litterbox-central.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3
Both of these don't require any custom products.
There are also options that require custom products to function correctly (something I am trying to stay away from, but they seem to have people that really like them)
There is the ScoopFree, for about the same price. http://www.litterbox-central.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=21
Also for more money there is the CatGenie which does lots of things that none of the other current products do, but you should read what people have to say about it in the forum. http://www.litterbox-central.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=14

Look around the site, people have done a good job of talking about what they have found to be good/bad with each product. None of them are the right answer for everyone.

Look here for a quick summary of boxes that I haven't mentioned http://www.litterbox-central.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=825
2 Cats who:
Are enjoying Petsafe Simply Clean (12/1/06).
Have found lacking LitterSweep Ultra, LitterMaid and Purforma.
