bought the smart scoop

SmartScoop uses an automatic scooping system to move clumped litter into a collection bag. It has several features designed to minimize odors and maintenance tasks.

ok first impressions, Works great and does'nt cost a fortune. My big, 19 pound boy, poops/pee's like a trooper so he really put the unit through it's paces...it's nice to see all that nastiness scoopeed up and under the lid..an no gut chunning odors either! Just make sure you spray the non stick stuff everywhere, under the tail, behind the ears and arm pits too..(just kidding) and use the odor control spray when you need it. It's deep and has a large box, like what a plus! Just what big boy likes.

How can anyone not like this unit it's a breeze to disassemble and clean and uses less litter than most.. I tried litter maid, cat genie and scoop free..there not as good, Litter maid makes a wonderful planter box, cat genie stunk after a few months and that lovely stew of swirling poop..whats not to love on that one...oh my....and did i mention ..EXPENSIVE! has anyone thought that your depending on a cheap water valve assembly to not fail? Can you spell W---A---T---E---R------D----A----m----A-----g----e----if not I just did it for you. maybe the new one will be better but man look at the COST....absurd. They should just give the unit to you for buying their over price cartridges of cheap sani.

the EXpensive crystal job is ok but whoa, back up the pony , common...it's so, so ..an my big boy did'nt like the water absorbing clear crystals...

as for the robot one my big boy diffinately has a clastraphobia issue to deal with....can you blame him, Just think about it, giant round ball, five feet off the floor that you enter to do your business all the while wondering if you can squeeze out again. thats not for Big boy....

And what about the one that looks like a counter top food mixer...just where is big boy suppose to go on that one???

So here I am writting a review about a litter box, (dont ask me why..i' know get a life thing)), and big boy likes his new Smart Scoop poop pen....and when I hear it running, it's the sound of victory. get one an besure to get the improved one. It's got Big boys paw of approval! it's true, it's nicely imprinted on my floor.

My large cat is about 25 pounds....will the smart scoop be big enough for this size cat...I am currently using the LM 900 and he fills that up...and usually front two paws on the waste drawer and rear over the litter....any thoughts on this. I am planning to buy a couple of more LM but this is sounding much better.

While I do not have one, I do have a Cat-Genie and a littermaid elite. Only one of our two cats use the cat genie, otherwise I love it. No stink, keeps clean, does need not average joe maintenance and ugly cleaning. Otherwise, if only one cat, I would love it like I did when we only had one cat. The Littermaid, the other cat uses it. It leaves too much stuff. Is messy and doen't deposite enough into it's bag (which is a regular plastic shopping bag in a small wasted basket which fits into the Littermain 3rd party cabinent.

The SmartScoop looks like it has these advantages: Simple bag; Rakes with a loop at the bottom to scoop good. A larger tray. Disadvantage: Bags have to be purchased. Looks like the next one I buy will be a Smart Scoop.

OMG -too much choice!! Sometimes I wish I lived in communist China. (well, not really, but too much choice can be overwhelming.) I've just purchased the newest version of SmartScoop (SmartScoop Self-Scooping LitterBox 1073211347) I found it on properpet.com for $109 including shipping. I agonized (strong word, but that's what it felt like) between the Smartscoop, Littermaid, and Scoopfree. In the end I decided to give SmartScoop a try because my two cats are already using clay litter, and because the SmartScoop box seems bigger. I have Teo (11 years old, 18 lbs) and Mouse (yes, a cat named Mouse... 6 years old, 8 lbs). I have never owned an automatic litter box before, and I'm very interested to see how it performs for my cats. I'm tired of being the only one in the household to clean out the litter box (spouse & 2 teenagers don't seem to notice) and because it's in our walk-in pantry just off the kitchen, I'm tired of the litter box smell! Plus, we're going away for a few weeks and I wanted to make life as easy as possible for our housesitter/petsitter.

I'll try to remember to post again with results!

I believe a scooper and several boxes of disposal bags. The scooper isn't the best for the job so I did purchase one that was more effective. There is also a guard at the end of the pan to prevent the litter from getting scooped out onto the floor.
