Confused About The Waste Trap

Postby mskitty666 » Wed Feb 18, 2009 9:27 pm

I have Litter Robots already and have seriously been considering adding a ScoopFree or two. I have six fuzzies who seem to be getting pickier about the litter box as they get older. With so many cats I know I will need to empty the waste trap probably before needing to change crystals. The one thing holding me back is that it's not like the Littermaid (used to have those a long time ago) where I could easily line the waste container and empty easily. In fact I'm not grasping exactly how this waste trap works to begin with. Could someone explain exactly how the waste trap works and whether I would be able to manually empty it without too much hassle? Thanks.

The best illustration of how the SF works (whether with their cartridge or any of the permanent trays) is to watch the video at their website -- www.scoopfree.com

Unlike littermaid, the SF doesn't have a provision for seperately emptying the waste trap only. One can do an occasional "rake out" from under the lid (it's pretty easy, and what many of us do) that extends the time between changes -- but there's no way to just dump that trap by itself and replace.

Hope this helped!

Thanks for the info. Late night impulse shopping got me and I ordered one along with another LRII. Darn that Amazon Prime! It should arrive tomorrow. If it doesn't work out I'll return it, but hopefully it will. Sending it back means getting a Littermaid instead and I don't like that they haven't improved their product at all over the years. I guess I'll find out soon enough what you ScoopFree owners have been raving about.

Don't buy a Litter Maid!!! I wouldn't wish one of those things on my worst enemy. I can't say enough good things about my Scoop Free. And as for my cat, he used it 5 minutes after I set it up. This thing is great.
