fixing rake (doesn't change orientation)

Postby markblasco » Sun Jan 11, 2009 1:17 am

Our Scoop Free litter box seems to be having a recent issue: The rake works fine as it travels towards the poop compartment. When returning, however, it doesn't flip orientation (with the top leaning towards the poop tray), so it drags most of the litter to the very back, and it gets jammed up behind the rake. It used to move part way out of the poop tray, then the rake would flip over, then continue moving.

I opened it up and can't see any broken parts, and can't for the life of me figure out what exactly causes the rake to change orientation.

The rake is screwed to a small plastic tab, but it is only loosely connected. Should these screws be holding it tight, and should the tab itself turn? Is there something which is supposed to grab the rake on its way back from the poop tray which has broken on our unit that I can't find?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Honestly? The best thing to do is give SF customer service a call. They are extremely knowledgeable and responsive, and can most likely give you an immediate solution. I've heard nothing but good things about their customer service.
