Charcoal?

Postby JENN » Sun Mar 04, 2007 10:43 pm

Has anyone tried putting a little charcoal, some type of charcoal filter perhaps, in the poop tray like littermaid and some other boxes do?

I know some ppl have said there is no oder, but wow, I must have a very sensitive nose bc I sure smelled the box in the tiiny room I have it in after just a few days. I can't imagine going a few weeks and still claim there is no smell?!? I had to empty out the poop trap even though it was no where near full from my one cat usng it.

I love this litterbox though, I'm definitely not complaining here at at all. No way would I go back to the old scoop method, this is hassle free. My Holly is fascinated with it too... and she is doing her thing right in the very center like she should. She then steps out and sits nearby waiting for it to cycle, then she watches as it rakes of course. If I can just get the smell controlled, I'd say it's close to being a perfect litterbox! :)

Littermaid makes a charcoal filter to place inside the receptacle, you may be able to purchase that to put on the flap of the scoop free. They have a sticky back, you just peel it and stick it on.

Thank you... In researching those more I read that simply placing a charcoal briquette in the poop tray is just as good, and a lot cheaper to boot.

OK... those of you claiming no odor, what the heck are you feeding your feline? That Friend's song, "Smelly cat, smelly cat... what are they feeding you?" plays in my head every single time she exits her bathroom! :)

LOL Yeah I have the same song running through my head too with my 3 kitties  But I'm using the Litter Robot because Lily will NOT use crystal litter of any kind. But once it cycles, it's okay but man waiting for the cycle to kick in can be awful at times.
