Fully saturated in one week

Postby trberry5 » Sun Jan 07, 2007 10:35 am

So I have 2 cats, one of which has kidney problems and pees A LOT. The crystals are saturdated after only one week.

Any one else changing tghe crystals weekly?

This box seems like the best option out there. The crystals are soooo much cleaner that clay litter. I can't stand the thought of using clay litter again.

My cat won't use the WBL, which is the only other litter type I've bought that I like.

Weekly changes are going to expensive, even just using loose litter, so I don't know if this will be for us or not....

Hi trberry5 --

I, too, have two cats and changed the crystals, first two times, within 5 days. I was hoping to keep the crystals a little longer the second time but had used a plastic bag to line the box and it got caught in the rake... Did that again using an even flimsier bag and had to redue the box again, same day. (The first time lining with the bag worked -- Cats weren't trying to bury anything. Now they are and they rip the bag which then gets caught by the rake. I have now lined the box with material cut from an old heavy duty air mattress that had sprung a leak...) I would like to see how long the crystals hold out if I mix them a little more.

So, yes, the crystals are great after the cats adapt but they are expensive and may not hold out as long as advertised. The second issue I have with the SR is poop that does not always get under the flap. I have ordered the LR. According to some posts on the forum, the LR can also use crystals.

I am changing weekly, but I have 4 cats. I have heard that stirring the litter is suppose to help make it last, but I doubt it would make mine last any longer. Maybe try stiring it for a second each day or every other day and see if that helps?

Dawn :)

I change weekly and I have two cats.

It's a stretch, even, to make it weekly sometimes. My female cat starts crapping on the floor as soon as the box the least bit stinky.

So far, I have been less than impressed with it simply because of the expense of crystals and the need for changing schedule.

If this box were anywhere compareable in price to my old set up, clumping litter and a sifting box, I would be a huge huge fan. But because it's so damn expensive, I find myself getting more and more annoyed. .

My boys pee a lot as well.....

I ended up getting the "forever" permanent box off of Ebay.

No more leaking box, no more bags and "stuff".

We mix the Fresh Step crystals with Pet Gold (available very inexpensively from Petco on-line) and change twice a week. Ends up being a lot cheaper and a lot less hassle than the cardboard cartridges with liners.

SPAM! Why did you think it necessary to post this bs about 'buying' a tray off of ebay four different places??? YOu are selling the trays and this belongs in the classified section. Stop with your self promoting spam

Please accept my apology

I'm posting this on all four of the places I screwed up.

In my enthusiasm for this cool item, I did a stupid thing by putting it on here in an inappropriate way. I'm an engineer by background and so sometimes focus on the wrong things -- in this instance the cool tray for the cool SF.

I'm sorry for having done this -- and promise that it won't happen again. I honestly don't know what the heck I was thinking.
