Where to find cheapest cartridges?

ScoopFree is an automatic box designed to be used with Fresh Step Crystals instead of regular litter

I meant I see pockets of green that signify pee.

There is no poo though. :(

Judging by evidence, they are content to poo directly OUTSIDE the box though.

well, we went to the vet. Daisy's "problem" wasn't very bad this time (she needed her anal glands expressed... yeech.....) so I'm thinking she was having some litter confusion. I was letting the old box get nice and nasty.

So, I removed the old box completely and sprinkled some Cat Attract herbs the crystal. (That stuff is AWESOME! I used to get the Cat Attract litter when Daisy had problems before.)

Anyway, no outside of the box thinking, or pooping. Outside of the box used to also be a "hey...change this thing!" sign, so maybe she's caught on that the scoop free is there. I hope so.

My other problem is that I would sprinkle a handful of old litter on the crystals every now and then in order to convince my babies that this really was a litter box. I think the old clumping stuff is keeping the poo from drying out like it should. Oh well. We're going to change the cartridge before we leave.

I'm soooo happy. It's guilt free, scoop free. YAY!

P.S. I finally found out why my hubby was P*SSED. He had heard me talking about the litter robot and how it was $300, then this thing came in the mail. He thought I spent $300 on it. Once he learned that I got it for $99. he likes it more!!!

I haven't told him the cartridge price!! Today, I saw a petco? rake and clumping litter thing that is about the same size as the scoop free and it costs something like $250. We all know how often you have to go and knock the crap out of it (literally) to make it work right. So far, scoop free is maintence free (other than obssessively checking on it) and the same price we paid for a Littermaid 4 years ago. ANd it's HUGE! That's awesome.

I'm don't think you aren't supposed to sprinkle other litter types into the crystals! They do such a good job of drying out the poops so they don't stick to the rake.

Glad Daisy is doing better after her trip to the vet.

I only did that to let them know "hey! This is litter! You can poo here." But I think I used too much.

but there was some "out of the box" thinking again this morning, so I'm not sure what is up. *sigh*

Still trying to get my "problem female" broken into crystal litter. Every time I don't add enough clay to the crystals, she "thinks out of the box". At least my carpet's old and ratty... I won't go "Scoop Free" until she comes around. The things we work hard at!

good luck.

I had been using cat attract herbs to sprinkle on top, but I read the package and it said "not for use on scented litter." *sigh*

You might try a little of the clumping cat attract litter. http://www.preciouscat.com/

I love that stuff.

Hello! I've just come back from my trip overseas.
Husband got frustrated with the female's out of the box thinking and shelved the scoop free.
I had a cartridge left and just yesterday set the scoop free up again, but I left the old litterbox around.
We'll see how it works.
I sometimes wonder if maybe the female's medical problem taught her to think that the whole corner of my basement was the litterbox, even after I replaced the carpet. So, we're in a new house now and hopefully, things will go well. (and things will go where they should go).
She hasn't used the floor since we moved in here.
The real test will be when I remove the old scooping litter again. I really think she doesn't like the crystals because she can't bury her poo as nicely. I might try smaller crystals.

Thanks for checking in on my.

Response is still mostly indifferent from cats and husband. But I've noticed much more use in the past few weeks. The cats don't really like the litter in their old box. (Husband just buys whatever -- this is good because it drives them to the scoop free but bad because sometimes they'll just crap outside of the box, even if the scoop free is there.)

I guess it's time to change the cartridge -- which is good. It lasted a month with two cats and the old litter box running. I think I won't be too anxious to switch them entirely. It's a great back up, I don't have to scoop quite so much as I did before, and eventually, I'll make the change. But I'm thinking in a few months still.

I actually wonder if the lack of odor is an issue. If they can't smell their old stuff, do they wonder if it's really thier territory? I'm curious.

Walter is set up with TWO - COUNT THEM - TWO Scoop Free Machines.

Yet - a few times a month, he will poop all over the floor, on his mat just outside the boxes, etc. But all within 5 feet of the boxes. Sometimes we watch him dig around in there, jump out, jump in the other one, then go on the mat. Damn it!

It drives me nuts. The boxes are clean. He did this with the Litter Robot and he does this when the boxes need to be changed but sometimes he just craps all over the floor.

My wife and daughter love him but I cant stand the mess.

Okay, Walter wins! Does it help to put a cover on the box? I took all the covers off of ours because I thought that maybe my fat kitties felt trapped. But if it keeps Daisy from hopping out mid-poo, well, maybe I should.

But that's exactly what Daisy does. Right by the box. It makes me scream. I don't see her actually do it because she won't do it in front of us. But in the morning, every now and then, there it is. Good morning.

I just ordered my new 3 cartridges. We'll see how it goes. Even if I don't switch to the ScoopFree 100%, I still have saved a hell of a lot of scooping and really, money on litter too.

I might end up with two scoop frees as well. My kitties have been raised together since they were 2 months old. I never knew the one cat/one box rule until later, but it's never been an issue. Maybe now that they are older, they don't want to share as easily.

One has a cover.

I would rather pick up the occasional stray waste than to scoop daily. Even if we had to use TWO cartridges a month, its worth it. $1 a day is NOTHING compared to scooping. Believe me, there were other things I was wasting $1 a day on that I dont need anymore.
