Purrforma by Petmate?

Postby sage » Wed Oct 29, 2003 1:47 pm

Has anyone tried the Purrforma self cleaning litter box by Petmate? One model has a hood and the rake is steel instead of plastic, and it uses clear bags. I also had too many problems with the Littermaid. I was lucky as it malfunctioned early and I returned it to PetsMart. I was just curious about the Purrforma and I figured this is the best place to ask. Thanks! Sage (again)

Purrforma

The Purrforma is, in a word, a bad joke. My strong recommendation is to not buy it. I ordered mine from Petco and set it up per their instructions, and the unit jammed on the first cycle before any of our cats had used it. Thereafter, over the course of the next several days, I would say the unit successfully worked no more than 10% of the time. The unit is now packed up and will be returned to my local Petco store shortly. In looking at the unit, I would say that it is virtually impossible for it to work correctly. As well, I called the Petmate technical support line for assistance, and was routed to voicemail. I left a message several days ago, but my call was never returned. My suggestion is to sell Petmate stock short.

His is not the only poor report on this new unit...check the rest of the forum and you will see others. Seems as if someone threw it together and never did a trial on it with cats....

I would love to add my 2 cents on this, but I'm going to bite my tongue (OW!) and let you guys discuss it.

I was so lucky that my order has been held by petco, as they claimed no more stock. I just found the forums discuss this product right after I made the order. God bless me and momo (my Himalayan boy)!! :o
