The Simply Clean sifts litter slowly and continuously. Talk about it here.

Solutions to the low pan height? (litter flying issue)

Hey guys,

Curious if anyone has a solution to their cats pawing at the litter and sending it flying out of the box? I'm considering adding a step on the outside and making an ABS plastic spacer to raise the guard. However, if you have a better trick I'd love to hear it.

I've been wondering about this problem too. I saw some door seals at home depot a while back. The kind where you peel and stick them to the bottom of the door to prevent drafts. They are flexible, so I thought I might be able to get one and stick it to the litter guard. I haven't tried it yet though.

In the post "Simply Clean 10 month update" (petsafe-simply-clean/topic2538.html) Catsoline mentions having put the SC inside a kiddy wading pool. Ours is very new; I had put the SC on top of it's packing box to give it a little height to ease my arthritic knees (one of the reasons for wanting an automatic box to begin with) and discovered that I could put one of the old boxes (a very high sided box as we have a great kicker) next to the packing box to catch the kick.

My goal is to make this as space efficient as possible with less cleanup. I don't really have the room for a kitty pool nor do I want to sweep one out continuously.

I have never found a solution to the low sides, I still use the wading pool, thankfully my unit is in an unfinished basement. I've found that WBCL does grind to powder, I recently switched to Natures Miracle to see if that is any better, time will tell. It's been about two years, the unit still works great, it's on a surge suppressor and a timer, runs twice a day for an hour, very little smell, if the washer and dryer weren't right there I'd probably forget to check it. The two boys use that and the Litter Robot that I have upstairs, both get equal use.

I'm going to try this and report back with some pictures.

That looks like a great idea. I am going to have to give that a try.
Thanks,
