Defective Part - New Part Coming In August

Postby jonboy » Thu Jun 14, 2007 6:07 pm

Hello. I purchased a Simply Clean litter box several weeks ago. After about 1 -2 days of use, it start to make a loud vibrating noise. Simply Clean sent a replacement (excellent customer service), and the same thing happened. I isolated the problem to the motor that drives the conveyor mechanism. The motor makes a slight noise from vibration that is amplified by all of the plastic parts of the casing. I put in rubber washers to see if I could isolate the motor and the noise but that did not work.

I just got off of the phone with PetSafe and they said it is a known problem. They are having a new motor manufactured but it won't be completed and have gone through testing until some time in August. They are sending another replacement in the hope that 3rd time's the charm (apparently not all motors are bad). And if that does not work, I'll make due until August and ask them for a replacement motor and replace it.

So, if you are thinking of buying a Simply Clean, I suggest waiting until August. Has anyone else experienced this noise?

And one last thing. Wouldn't it be great if they made some type of dome lid for this so litter does not fly everywhere!

I have had some pulsing noise (I think from the pan drive motor), but nothing too loud. I am interested in this upgraded motor though. Did they give you any indication of whether this would be something other owners could buy/exchange if they wanted to replace their current motor?

I did not ask them about long time owners being able to exchange the part. If your's does not create the noise from the conveyor motor, you may want to quit while you are ahead. This thing is getting loud.
