Will it work for a 25lb cat??

Omega Paw has an inexpensive, manually-operated litter box that uses gravity to collect waste in a tray.

Will it work for a 25lb cat??

Hi,

I live in a small apt, and the bin that my very large (25lb) indoor cat is using for a litter box stinks up my apt to no end! I've been researching alternatives, including Littermaid's motorized boxes (LM900-950), though it has so many mixed reviews, I'd rather not go that route for such a high cost.

Last night I googled litter box, and found the Omega Paw regular and large litter boxes. The price and convenience of the large one looks good (very good, informative reviews on Amazon), but I'm concerned that my cat will be too big for it-both getting in the hole, and being able to turn around inside (the potential claustrophia I'll address if it comes up). Does anyone have any experience with a very large cat using it that they can share with me? Or perhaps another type of box that could work for a large cat besides just a large bin that's open to the air?

Thanks!
Penny

I'm not sure, but you will certainly want to order the larger unit. I found it easier to find the large unit online, rather than at the stores.

I have one of these boxes too... its now sitting on my porch. Its too small... My largest cat is 15lbs & he has a hard time turning around inside the box. My husband threw away the plastic insert thinking it was junk when I had cleaned it & let it dry. Oops... Its just like a regular box except you tip it to the side. The plastic divider shortens the space inside the box. I saw no difference in using that or scooping a regular box. And if the box top is not on securely you end up with sand on the floor. I noticed the top loosens easily.
To me it was a waste of money. I got mine on Ebay before I noticed that Walmart sells them...
It might be good for 1 small cat but I have 5....

Which one did you buy, though? There is a smaller one that is easy to find at pet stores, etc. There is also a larger one that you may have to get online. We tested it with a 16 lb. cat, and it works well. We haven't seen it in the stores.
