Omega Paw has an inexpensive, manually-operated litter box that uses gravity to collect waste in a tray.

a change in the type of litter boxes I have. Well by my name you can see why the is more than an kitten sized issue for me!

I am the meowmie of 21 cats, 20 being indoors 100% of the time and one, indoor/outdoor kitty. Okay so I know why the problem I had with five babies got worse when it became 10 babies, then more worse when ten became 19 and then 19 and to my current diaster became 21.

I don't have enough litter boxes for the amount of kitties I have and why don't I , because scooping STINKS worse than what your scooping!!!!!

I found this forum tonight while searching for the Litter Robot and when I am done posting here I am going to head over to that section and post.

Simply put....... I NEED AN EASIER LITTER BOX!

Not easy mind ya'. I know that isn't possible and would we love our furries as much if everything with care was easy???

I tried the littermaid with the first or second model and only 4 cats.... DISASTER, manual scooping was better than trying to wipe slimey, clumping cat litter off the "teeth" of that rake! Although I have been tempted to try the "newer" models I always type it into google and find enough bad experience stories to convince me to save my money.

I have wanted to try this one for some time but figured the litter would get way to stuck on things and I would need to unassemble and reassemble and clean and wasn't sure if it was a good choice or not . Until this site I had not seen a lot of feedback.

Now I am not CRAZY (depends on who ya' ask being owned by 21 felines) enough to think ONE will be enough. But I thought I would set up a poll for some the types of boxes and see what folks thought and any suggestions they may have.

I hope you all don't mind and hope that many others can benefit from my questions/polls.

Thanks to all who take time to read my story and respond to my post.

Your in hairballs, Christie who is also owned by one Saint Bernard, one Spitz, 1 Bunny, 4 Goats and a teenage human that is the only "animal' of the bunch!

Our tester is still using the Omega Paws. The tester dumps it every day to keep the dog away, but has admitted that the box is well past the need for a yearly cleaning that should be performed monthly. I take that to mean that it isn't as imperative to clean the box as one might imagine. The tester is in love with the Omega Paws (never used an automated device) and would probably contemplate severe punishment if we attempted to take it away.

I think this box is ideal for people who want an "easier" box without the need of automation or the expense of automation. I'm very glad they make this so that people on a modest catbox budget can have an easier box.

I do think that one for 21 cats is too few. Make sure to get the larger one.

21 cats? That is a lot of poop.

I have this litter box because I am saving up for a Litter Robot. I will say, I am SO SO SO glad I got the Omega Paws as my pre-LR box instead of a regular box. I hate scooping. HATE HATE HATE HATE scooping and I despise changing the litter (That was my once-a-week job as a kid, can you tell it scarred me?)

I roll the Omega Paws once a day and I don't mind at all (I gave it an "8")... Max the cat thinks I'm a crackhead and often tries to climb in while I'm rolling. I thought the whole thing was sort of silly until I tried it... it's a great box! If you keep the litter level at the recommended height, you never get those stuck-to-the-bottom clumps. And I've only changed the litter/washed it out once in the 8 weeks I've had it, and that was because I changed litter brands. It doesn't seem to get dirty or gross...

I only have one kitten, though. You're probably going to need a couple of boxes!

I had an interesting situation recently. I've owned a Litter Robot for over 2 years now. About a month ago the Litter Robot was having some mechanical problems and was down for a couple of weeks. Problem is now fixed but I had to go back to using my Omega Paws litterbox.

Immediately I noticed that I was using more than twice the amount of litter. I also noted that the litter granuals got much dirtier and smelly than with the LR. Reason being that the LR cycles 7 minutes after the cats do their business. That being the case the clumps can't dry out as much and bust apart when rolling the Omega like twice a day.

I was curious and decided to put a pencil to how much I save in litter alone using the LR. Conclusion: I save $130/year by uing the LR. So if you think the LR is too pricey for you - think again. Will pay for itself in less than 3 years and from there on it's pure profit.

...And yes they last a long time. I've seen posts by some who have had one for over 4 years. I can attest that they're fairly easy to repair should something go wrong and their tech support is by far the best I've experienced with ANY company.

We have 2 cats and with the Omega Paws I had to empty it twice daily. With the LR only once every 6-7 days and that was just a matter of pulling out the drawer, lifting out and disgarding the garbage bag and replacing it with a new one.

All-in-all I am very pleased with the Litter Robot and so are our cats and they have final say on whether it's a good thing or not.

I have both an Omega and a Littermaid. I love both, but if I had to take one over the other, the littermaid would be gone! My Omega is so easy to maintain, and for my cat who prefers her privacy, so much more conveniant then setting up a bulky Littermaid tent!

I think you totally missed the point here. I was talking about LitterRobot. When comparing the 2 LitterMaid doesn't even hold a candle. When you equated LitterMaid to LitterRobot my jaw just dropped.

I love mine!! Cleaning takes a little longer, but it is easier to take care of then most. I have had the LM and it was poo. I tried the Petmate version of the LM and it was poo. The omega paw linked with a nice air filter and a littler locker has made a world of difference. I might look into the automatic again, but at this point, I am happy with my omega paw. :D
