LitterSweep Ultra Problems

Postby cardoctor416 » Wed Aug 20, 2008 1:56 pm

We have had 4 of these things in the past 2 1/2 years and have given up. THe plastic trashy internal gears strip and the unit cycles over and over. Unfortunately the last time it happened we were out of town for the weekeng and the 16 pound (not fat) large male cat decided to use my leather sectional sleeper sofa for a litter box.

1 mattress, 2 cushions, 2 bottles of "natures Miracle" and a new cat box later, I have nothing positive to say about this product other than if it works it does it's job.

The problem is when the rake needs to pick up the clumps, it is overloaded and strips the gears. It does not seem to matter if the box is full, half full or what brand of litter I use. The most use we have received before failure was 1 1/2 years. The least time was a whopping 3 weeks! We were emptying the waste container at about 10 day intervals.

Steer clear of this expensive gadget.

I did have a litter maid and it eventually wore out. I am trying a different unit now.

I agree totally. The first one we had lasted about 5 weeks. It just stopped working. We took it back and exchanged it for another one. It worked past the first 4 weeks so we purchased another one. Then it started making a chattering noise. The rake apparently tilted down and was digging into the bottom of the tray. After a few days it stopped working completely. A couple of months later the other one started doing the same thing. The cats like the deep bowl. But it is a very expensive Manual litter box, as we have now 2 non-functioning litter sweeps! They are great when they work, but certainly not worth the money for a few months of service.

Do either of you still have your A/C adapters for the Littersweep? I still have a working box, but our power cord was lost in a recent move and I can't seem to find it as a replacement part online. :(
