I was given a littermaid for x-mas this past year. I was so excited, thinking I'd never have to scoop again. I quickly unwrapped it, set it up and waited for the magic to start. For the first two days, I was happy with the results and both of my cats had no problem using it. My kitten actually liked to sit and watch the cycle and would actually run into the kitchen when he heard it start up. But then, the terrible truth came out. And what was the truth? My 15 lb male cat liked to make mountains in the litter box. So after his monument was erected, here would start the LM, trying to scoop. Now, I thought it was supposed to stop and back up and go at it again if it was having a hard time with the pass it was making. Not this LM. The motor would bog down as it attempted to bust right on through. It worked for two seconds, until there was a loud pop and then poo would fly across my kitchen floor. It had good distance, I'll give it that. So I cleaned up the mess, while trying to figure out what I could do. I thought maybe if I tried to smooth out the litter prior to the cycle running when he made big piles, it might not sling anything. But instead, it continued to sling poo every time it scooped. Well, that was until I unplugged it and boxed that baby back up and returned it. When the customer service lady asked why it was being returned, I told her flat out that I could sling poo 3 feet across my kitchen floor, I didn't need a $150 machine to do it. I wasn't so much bothered by cleaning the rake and small parts and such, but I was pe'oed about the flying poo, especially in my kitchen. I told my hubby that I'm getting a litter robot next month and when I told him the price, he was like, "for a litter box? It is a bidet?"

I said "fine, you can take over on scoop duty every day." Needless to say, I'll be ordering my robot shortly.
