Automatic Litterbox Central

My cat likes to walk on the outside edges of the litterbox and has a habit of changing the time, causing the sleep timer to be practically useless. Is there a way to prevent this without using one of the privacy tents (my cats HATE those things)? Maybe something to block access to the buttons?
