Littermaid Elite rake stuck on return

Postby VBobier » Wed Jul 07, 2010 1:24 am

Littermaid Elite rake stuck on return, I got this Littermaid Elite from Littermaid as a warranty replacement, The box works, Just the rake stays up and does not go down on the return trip as is seen below. I had a spare rake and the original White rake does the same thing.

The rake gets stuck and does not slide down the track after returning to the starting position, I'm going to get some stick on weights and put them on the back of the rake, You can find these weights at any model railroad/hobby shop or even at amazon(wheel weights), You'd place them on the back and You'd start with the smallest amount to see what works. These type of weights have an adhesive stick on backing. As I think the rake may either be too light in weight or have too much friction on the rails, Delrin rails would I'd think possibly fix this, But since I have no way to make a new rake to test this, the stick, I've used the weights on the right before to increase the weight of HO Train cars to their proper weight and they do work as the adhesive has a foam backing with a peel able backing that protects the adhesive until one needs to use the weights, Oh and the weights can be subdivided along the seams in the weights and no tools are needed usually, One might need a knife blade to peel off the cover for the adhesive backing, But otherwise It's dead simple to do.

Ok, I tried some cooking spray, But still the rake when It returns is like so as the rake appears to be so high that It's not aligned right, But push It down a bit and down It slides, I next will try some Silicone Spray, But I have to wait for the end of the month as I'm mostly broke. I may still get the weights as It may take a combination of both to make the existing design to work as the guide at the rear is not high enough to catch the two rollers and the guide should be near the front of the case, Not the rear as It is now. I mean didn't someone trusted ever test this before allowing the Elite-Mega Littermaid litter box go on Sale?
So far the Littermaid LM500 worked better in this regard than the L(a)ME9000...

I've fixed the Littermaid Elite Litterbox rake problem, I added 3.5oz of stick on lead weights to the rake and now It works mostly like It should, I still haven't received the Silicone Lubricant for the rails, But once some is sprayed there on each of the two rails, The box will work purrfectly w/a little help from Gravity. :D

This modification can be done to any Elite Litterbox with a removable rake. I bought 9oz worth of weights and I've used only 3oz, But then I had a 1/2oz already stuck on there which was left over from a previous project.

Littermaid Elite Mega rake stuck: fixed/solved

I added another 1oz of weight to see what this would do, No change, I'm still awaiting the can of Silicone spray from amazon that I ordered, but so far 3.5oz or 4.5oz works pretty well and I've heard no objection from Littermaid on this, So that's that.
