Sorry if I'm duplicating someone else's post, but I figured out how to make my own super cheap version of the Litterworks cabinet for my Littermaid.
I simply bought a big storage tub at Walmart- one of those big plastic boxes with a lid- that measured approximately 20"W X 35"L and 20"H. It's plenty low enough for my cat to jump up and long enough so that there's space at at the foot of the litter box for him to jump on to.
I figured out where to cut a hole in the lid so that it was the same size as and lined up with the bottom of the waste container on the LitterMaid. I then cut the bottom off of one of the plastic waste containers. With the Littermaid in two pieces, I taped the plastic container in place with duct tape, and tucked a really large capacity trash bag over and around the edges of the receptacle before locking the top of the Littermaid to the tray. When the two pieces are put together, the bag is held in place well enough. The key is that the bag has to be large enough that a fair amount of it pools on the floor of the tub. If the bag is too short and doesn't touch the bottom of the tub, the weight of the waste will drag the bag down and pull it loose. Glad thirty gallon capacity bags have been working fine for me.
When everything is all set up, the large bag hangs down into the opening in the top of the storage tub, and there's plenty of room for a couple of weeks worth of waste on one side of the tub with enough room to store all my litter box cleaning supplies in a small plastic container on the other side.
When it's time to empty the bag, I disconnect the power to the box, separate the two sections, pull the top of the bag loose, and let it fall down into the tub. I lift the lid, litter box and all, off the top of the tub, and voila, I'm ready to change out the trash bag and clean the box. FYI, if you let the bag get too full, it will be very heavy and may break when you try to change it.
Hope this helps! I've been using it successfully for 2 months. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here and I'll be glad to answer or even send photos.
