Help!! Rake does not return to original starting position.

Postby Turbo » Thu Jan 17, 2008 2:47 pm

I recently purchased a "Elite" model and have encountered a recurring problem.
After the rake scoops out my cat's business into the waste receptacle, the rake does not return back to the level of the cat litter. I think the rollers are missing the guides that direct the rake back down into the litter, so the rake ends up returning back to the starting position in an elevated position (3-4 inches above the litter). This has turned my "Elite" into a manual litter box. I am curious if anyone else has encountered this problem and what they might have done to fix it. Any and all ideas and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

My daughter had the same issue. She returned it to Petsmart for another one. It works fine.

this seems to be a glitch.

YES, I have the same problem, the rake is getting stuck at the dumping bin. It hits the end of the track, and does not return to the starting home position. Can anyone help?

Are you saying that your rake is missing the rollers on either side? If it is, it's missing a big part of the guide system since the rollers are what lifts the rake on the dumping ramp, and what drives the rake back down into the litter when the rake returns to its parking position. While we've removed our "elite" model (we're using the regular mega) from service, we went through 3 rake assemblies due to the rollers breaking off.

I Have the SAME problem!! My littermaid just stopped working. nothing. red light comes on and then doesn't do anything. So, today I took it apart, in its entirety. and REALLY cleaned it. I tried "resetting" the little sensor things, and now all I get is this: the thing goes, all the way to the poo recepticle, and then stops. at the top of the track. nothing after that- just stays there. I tried the little clicky thing on the left hand side- but mine only has one. and no magical little white buttons. any ideas? Currently stuck and about to go buy a new one. . . :(

No I believe He's saying that the rake gets stuck and does not slide down the track after returning to the starting position, Mine also does this, I may need to get some stick on weights and put them on the back of the rake, You can find these weights at any model railroad/hobby shop or even at amazon(wheel weights), You'd place them on the back and You'd start with the smallest amount to see what works. These type of weights have an adhesive stick on backing.
