Thank you so much for the reset information. I was about to post my littermaid on Craigslist for free since it wouldn't work. I decided to google the problem before I listed it and I came across this forum. I pushed the reset button and it's working perfectly. You are awesome.

I have the same problem other people are noting, the rake/motor stopped just shy of dumping. I took the whole thing apart, removed the old batteries, unplugged the AC power, cleaned the tracks (they weren't bad) and hit the reset button 7 times. I put it back together, plugged it in...and nothing happened. So I unplugged it and tried the reset again. I ended up doing this 4 different times and the rake is still stuck in the same place. The unit is powered, the green light and clock come up when I turn it on.

Any ideas?

Problem solved!

Postby Lahzz » Sun Jan 17, 2010 3:53 pm

The rest button didn't work for me, but I figured out the problem. After much taking apart and frustration, I found that the motor had disconnected itself from the power source. I have the Elite Mega and the motor is powered by a ribbon cord. The cord had become stuck on a plastic piece and end of the ribbon cord that plugs into the motor had disconnected.

To fix this, you need to unscrew the motor from the little white plastic connector that attaches it to the track. Then unscrew the track itself. Take the motor and track out of the machine and plug into the disconnected cord. The cord just fits into an opening on the plastic, white attachment.

Nothing in particular appears to hold it in, so I anticipate having this problem again at some point. but seeing as I've only had my box for 6 weeks, I'm glad it didn't die on me.

Hope that helps someone else!

Hi,

I just purchased a new LM700 unit. The motor makes a noise as it moves back upon powerup but will not sweep forward. I have checked the switch, and clicked them serveral times and can't seem to reset the unit. Does anyone have reset instructions specifically for this unit?

Thanks,
Greg

thank you! you just saved me $100! I really felt like this was not going to work, but my red light was on, and then I clicked on the ends of each track (seven or more times each), turned the unit off/on, and then Whammo! I got that wonderful sound again. :D

After my second LM I tried both the Litter Robot and the Cat Genie, luckily I did not discard my LM boxes.
When my attempt to find a better litter box failed I went back to trying to repair the LM box. The customer service had told me about the "reset" trick and it worked for a while, before it quit altogether,

When I actuated the switch with my finger it worked, so I surmised that it was not being depressed by the cleaning bar. Since my switch had a little flat spring lever on it, I just adjusted it wit a pair of needle nose pliers. And it has been working fine for many weeks.

To solve the problem of waste on or behind the rake I installed a wire, about an inch, in front of the raking bar, I uses a welding rod but an old wire coat hanger should do. That was done just a few days ago and seems to work fine.

Soon I will get out my other old LM and repair it so I will have a spare!

I have a littermaid LM900 and the rake will not move. The red light comes on when the machine is plugged in, but nothing happens-the rake will not budge. I tried unplugging the box and doing a reset, but this didn't work (it appears this model only has one reset switch). Is there anything else I can try? I've only had the box about 6 months.

I am pretty sure all Litter Maid's have a "One year limited warranty".

Call them and and post the outcome here!

I couldn't find the button to push, probably because my rake was stuck at that end. I took the top of the box off, turned it upside down and just fiddled around with it. Cleaned it a little too. When I plugged it in again, it worked fine. Yeah!!!! Thanks so much for the help on here. A picture of where the button to push is located would help.

My LitterMaid just kept cycling over and over. It was driving me nuts (that sound is starting to haunt my nightmares). I'd heard wonderful things about this litterbox and bought it (even though my husband made a bet that it wouldn't work for long and that I was wasting my money  ), hoping it was going to be the miracle I'd prayed for (I love my babies but I HATE cleaning the litterbox). About 10 minutes ago, I literally considered throwing the bloody thing off my balcony. I figured I'd search the web for something I may have missed, and thanks to this site, the box worked again, and my downstairs neighbor's sidewalk isn't covered in litter and $200.00 worth LitterMaid litterbox parts.

Thanks for the heads-up on the reset button. :D

Where is the reset button? Mine is at least three years old.

The rake is stuck in front over the dispenser the cord is out of where it should be and even though I cleaned it, nothing is happening.

NEW Litermaid Reset!

Postby smorrow » Tue Mar 08, 2011 5:41 pm

I have a LitterMaid Mega. I have read the forums on "resetting" the box with no luck.

My box has the red light that is on and the motor rakes if I unplug the unit and plug it back in. But from there, the unit does not work. It is like the sensors do not trigger the device to run. The switch I read about looks like the return sensor at the end of the rake cycle.

Does anyone know what I should do to make the sensors trigger the device to run?

Thanks for all the info (betting it will come in handy). Our 2 week old Littermaid unit was stuck with it's motor and rake at the end by the receptacle. The reset button tricks did not work. My husband took the unit apart, removing the bottom tray and the side of the unit which did have the switches (only one side on ours). It turned out the power cord/ribbon had come undone from its source. He reattached the power ribbon, and the unit works again. These machines are so convenient, but it would be really nice if there was a beefy utility model. We would be willing to pay for a unit with better components that didn't need major maintenance after only two weeks! (We have resigned ourselves to more maintenance, but hopefully the tips in this thread will save us time and money.) :?

OK....I have tried everything on this particular forum with little to no success. The rake is stuck, sometimes in the middle, sometimes at the recepticle end, and sometimes at the start. Short of hozing down the tracks I cleaned as much of the goo off as I could, pressed the reset buttons and got all excited when the rake moved only to be shortly disappointed when it stopped midway. With a toothbrush and cooking oil spray I continued cleaning, pressing the reset buttons, and basically all it will do is short incomplete sweeps. This is not a new box - maybe two years old, a Mega Elite900 series. If someone has a suggestion short ofreplacing it I would really appreciate it. The reset buttons are both on one side of the box at the ends of one of the white tracks.

Thanks all. This is my third box and my cats hate it when they must go slumming with the old manual boxes.

You can use Dry Lube spray also on the track. Clean off all the corrosion first if possible. Spray directly on track and metal parts. Works like a charm. I turn off power first.
