Litterfree liquid filling.

With regard to the litterfree bottle, is it not possible to drill a hole in the top small enough but large enough to pour a potential mix and than to cork it with a small rubber cork? I would like to know if anyone has tried this. I am also wondering if anyone has found a source for the liquid and litter granules.

Refill options

Sure, why not?
The plug one uses would need to be well fitting, preferably rubber.
Testing would show whether or not a positive seal was required in order to keep the fluid from leaving when not cycling.

I am not at the point where I need to use the technique. I bought the unit just a few months ago and I have gradually been introducing my cats to it. I have yet to use the first bottle. I will attempt to find out as soon as I have an empty. I agree with the rubber stopper. It would provide a better seal.

No cork needed

I drilled a hole and filled it with a concoction of Oxyclean and Scope - both safe and biodegradable (frankly it smells better than the original stuff). No cork was needed as it seems that it opens the port when needed and seals itself when done.... I'll keep you posted if anything changes!!

:) That's good confirmation. I tried something similar and it seems to work also. I poured some Nature's Miracle directly into a self cut opening on the up-end of the solution bottle. It seems to work fine. I usually keep a 1 gal. supply of Nature's Miracle anyway, so I tried it.

Anything you put in the cartridge will wind up on your cat's paws and from there the mouth.
