Caution

While working in a small animal vet clinic I witnessed a feline that perished due to his automatic litterbox. It appears that he had stayed in the box until the automatic feature kicked in and then somehow the box trapped him. I do know that he was home alone when this occured though. This has always kept me from getting my own. I am sure it was a one in a million chance but...

There is NO WAY POSSIBLE for a cat to get stuck in a litterfree unit. Maybe post your comment in another section cause its not possible.

Agreed. There isn't any way. The LR require the cat to exit the system before the weight tripped sensor will allow the thing to think about operating. Although, I could see a too light cat having a problem if the owner didn't change the sensitivity.

In short, I think the problem is very uncommon and not equally likely between units.

I could perhaps see a sick cat going there to die. Cats are well known to "go off" someplace (the place where they were born if they can get to it) when they are very sick and sense that they are about to die. So, someone might be gone for a day or two, and come home to find their cat dead in the litterbox, and assume that it somehow got stuck in there.
