Please use these instructions at your own risk!! You WILL void the warrenty (like it matters anymore) and could end up screwing up your LF beyond repair. Worse, you could damage it and cause yourself, your pet, or others to be electrocuted. UNPLUG THE UNIT BEFORE DOING ANYTHING WITH IT. (Thermal nuclear detonation possible with electric/cat poo combo)
Now, on with the story.
My Litterfree got clogged so I figured out how to take it apart and I also happend upon a easter egg or maintaince command for the control panel. Read on for more and let me know what you think.
Clearing the impeller(?) is pretty easy as all you do is loosen the two tiny screws on the impeller, the three screws under the grey gasket (just punch through the gasket with a philipps. Don't remove it), the one screw in the center (you'll need a LONG phillips for this) and the two on the top middle. These are all on the power and hose side.
before opening turn the unit over so the half with the water, waste, and power cord is on the bottom and carefully lift the top half with the drier vent off. Don't open it too much just enough to get at the propeller and get out whatever is clogged.
You'll find that the hardest part of putting it back together (at least I did) is this little electric valve thats in the upper part by the controller. Its got a couple of electrical and a couple of hoses attached. Its a pain because it needs to sit in a little holder with four sides for it. Because it needs to sit in there and its upside down it will tend to fall out and keep you from putting the shell back together. I tried doing it by flipping the thing over but more stuff fell out that way. I used a piece of clay/gum to hold it in place while I closed it up. There must be some trick they use at the factory to assemble this thing. I've no idea how they do it.
When you get it back together you can test by going through its cycles by holding down the "hour" button and pressing the "start cycle" button. Every time you press the "start" button it will go to the next cycle. This is great if you just want to quickly have it halt it drying cycle. I found out that you have to press the button multiple time during the drying cycle to get it to end. Just hold the "hour" button and keep pressing the "start" button every second or so until it stops and ends.
Good luck!
I believe there is a "reset the processor" sequence. But I've not found it yet. So far I just have to use the "hour/start cycle" combo to quicly run through the cycles. Please post if you know the "factory reset" combo.
