Is LitterFree Out of Business???

Postby cas » Tue May 27, 2003 9:57 am

We don't know if Pet-Centric, the makers of the LitterFree, are still in business. Their phones are not connected. One reader posted that they were bought by another company.

Others say they are having trouble getting supplies.

Personally, I would wait on considering the LitterFree until the company comes online again. Otherwise, you may be left with an expensive doorstop.

Until then, please continue to post ideas for current owners of the LitterFree on what to do about cat issues, what if there aren't anymore supplies, etc.

Supplies/solutions

Postby jamietre » Tue May 27, 2003 10:08 am

This is a curious problem. However, reading this forum, it sounds like there are alternatives to both the pellets and the cleaning solution (that are probably a lot cheaper than the "real thing" anyway).

I just bought one of these things last week and am amazed at how well it works so far. The various shortcomings noted by others don't trouble me at all (e.g. noise - it's in the basement, never hear it; smell - haven't noticed anything in particular, and certainly compared to a traditional catbox it's a lot better). My cats took to it easily after a one-day transition and it seems to live up to all it's claims. At this point I can't imagine going back to a litter-based solution (either "manual" or a sweeper-type device).

I'd love to hear from people who have used alternates proposed for pellets and solution and how well they works. Any long-term problems? Online sources? Personally, I have no problem owning an orphaned device as long as I can get ahold of the maintenance supplies in some form. I may just pick up a spare one on ebay in case it breaks one day
;-)

LitterFree or WonderBox

Postby Armani420 » Mon Jun 02, 2003 10:38 am

Here is some information I found regarding the parent company of LitterFree:

P.N.P. - Pets N' People Ltd.

A starting company that specializes in developing unique products for the pet market. The first product the company developed is the WonderBox, which is an "automatic toilet" for housecats. This is an automatic appliance that purifies and recycles the "sand" on which the cat excretes. The company will begin marketing its product in international markets in 1999.

Pets and People Ltd.
Phone number = 04-6100676
Region = Or Akiva
Street = Kopielevitz 18

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has tried to contact them.

A used Litterfree unit just sold on Ebay for $ 455.00, plus another $ 45.00 in shipping charges. Today I got a call from Frontgate, to tell me that the 3 pack of solution I had ordered was backordered 30 days...

Postby Armani420 » Fri Jun 06, 2003 10:31 am

I could not get a reply from Pets'n People but I did get one from The Cat Welfare Society of Israel.

Dear Ms. XXXXXXXXX,

Yes - they have indeed gone out of business and their product can not be found anymore. I am sorry! it was a good product.

All the best!

I am trying to contact the former owners of the company to see if they would be interested in selling their patents and technology. I and several associates are very interested in continuing to produce the product.

I just sent an email to the Cat Welfare Society of Israel - if anyone knows where or how I can contact the right people, I would be very grateful - thanks!

Yes, I have spoken to his wife, who is very guarded and will not give out any information. I left a message for him with her, and he has not returned my call.

Stop calling the Simchoni household

Postby ricster » Tue Jul 01, 2003 5:11 pm

Apparently, I and MANY others have stumbled into this forum via google, etc.
The "former owner" posting has caused a great deal of woe in their household.
I spoke with his son, while his mother carried on the background.
They are going to have to change their phone number, apparently.
The kid did take a message, and gave me a phone number in Israel.

I'll pass that on to anyone who wants it.

Supplies including granules and solution should be available in the US within 2 to 4 weeks.

Look for new boxes to be on the market within 12 months.

Litterfree Supplies

Postby ricster » Tue Jul 01, 2003 7:35 pm

Name your sources, if you can/will.
I called an online vendor, who reports that a distributor said a new company is forming and should be online in two or three months.
That "distributor" has yet to call me directly, neither has Ady S.
I'm stocked for supplies, so I can be patient. Mostly I'm just curious.
I had several conversations with a gent at litterfree about beta testing the larger unit they were working on. (my eldest is a huge coon)

I am not able to name my source because of an agreement to keep that information confidential. However, I think that the source is extremely reliable.
