HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Postby babyaca » Wed Nov 19, 2003 12:38 am

I just recently purchased a slightly used litter box from Ebay (I know, I know. But I really wanted one) and I pushed the start button and it filled with water and churned, then drained, and then filled with water again and chruned, but when it came time to drain it just made a humming noise. And then woudl start churning again. I tried skipping a cycle by pushing the hour button and the start button but it would go back to the churning and then after some many skips it ended the cleaning but the water is still in the unit. Can someone please help me, has anyone had this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is a tough problem and let's hope it is not a computer chip problem.

First, be sure that you do not have too many granules in the unit. Also, check the drain hose for obstructions. If all is good, then I would remove all of the granules and then disassemble the unit from the pan. Be sure that all of the granules are out of the unit. If even one granule is lodged in the impeller (the covered part with about half-dozen blades), then the blades may not spin, or worse, break. The previous owner may have not cleaned all of the granules out of there. Use a pen and gently be sure that the blades spin easily. If all is well, then re-assemble the unit and add the granules. The unit will not run properly without enough granules.

If all fails, you may need to disassemble the entire unit and check for problems internally. You can even take it to a small appliance repair shop. Let us know how things are going. Be sure to add this to the seller's feedback if the unit does not work.

Excellent advice. It's also very important to make sure you have the box sitting on a level surface. I used a carpenter's level to make sure of this, and wound up putting a very thin shim under one of my boxes, which helped a lot. Very few floors are truly level.

Thanks, for the advise, well when I went back to work on the litter free, it said error 2, so I looked at the bottom of the motor, and in the drain it was clogged w/ the granules, so I cleaned all of those out of there and tried to run it again and it ran fine all 4 cycles, so I pushed it abck against the wall and then later that day George (my cat) had used it so I started the cycle again, well it wasn't chruning the beads like it should so I pulled it out to look at it and it started working again, so I figured out that when it's pushed all the way back it's not level, so I have to keep it about 4-5 inches away form the wall which is no problem, and it has been working ever since. Thanks for all the advise, you guys are great!
