Better in theory than in practice

I just returned my LitterFree unit after trying for months to get my cats to use it. I think this product would be great for younger cats, but my cats, at 9 and 11, are too old to learn new tricks. It took me 2 months to install it, because the plumbing in my condo is screwy, and none of the adapters would fit. LitterFree was kind enough to send me other adapters to try, and eventually it worked.

Other than the fact that my cats wouldn't use it, my problems were similar to those in the main review. It's VERY loud, to the point that I had to go in another room and close the door in order to talk on the phone. The hair gets left behind, and keeps building up, and it REALLY smells when the unit is drying. I couldn't stay in my condo when it was drying, the stench was so bad. Plus, the hair wouldn't dry during the drying cycle, so I'd have to wait a few hours to remove it from the unit. This is much yuckier than scooping a litter box. The hair has to be removed, because it does get stuck in the motor. I also didn't like the fact that I couldn't run the washing cycle a couple more times before the drying cycle began. Often, the solid waste would not be broken down with one complete cycle.

Overall, my cats were more interested in playing with the pellets than using the box. It was too expensive to be used as a perch for my cats.

hello,

after reading you experiences with the litterfree I was releaved to hear that somebody else had the same problems witlh the litterfree as we.
we purchased it a week ago and we have some problems;
1)it is very loud
2)it smells very bad during de cycle
3)we always get an error2 even when we check everything
We purchased it in Belgium because we're from antwerp so now I hope we can get a reffund.
the idea is good but like you said in theory ok but not in practice

greetings
