LitterFree Granule Substitutes

Postby konakat » Mon Aug 25, 2003 2:39 pm

I have read the entire forum more than once and note a few references to substitutes for the litter free granules. Has anyone actually purchased and tried substitute granules in their litter free to see how they work? The supplies on eBay seem to be dwindling as most die hards stock-up for the long wait. As this happens, it would be great to hear of success stories from people who have practical experience with litter free granule substitutes. I think that the forum has beat to death cleaning solution substitutes and needs to discuss the granules a bit more. Feel free to opine on granule substitutes that you have tried in the LitterFree. Thank you.

LitterFree back at PetSmart

Postby magric » Sun Aug 31, 2003 2:38 pm

My local PetSmart (not a big store, so if it's here, it will be everywhere soon) started receiving both the LitterFree machine itself and supplies on Friday. The world will be in order soon and we can move on to another crises (thank heaven! -- this one about drove me and my three cats crazy)

New Supplies???!

Postby kbacal » Mon Sep 01, 2003 10:18 am

Mag,
I saw your post about your local PetSmart in Richmond having new supplies. Do you have any more info or a local contact? My local store here in Houston TX and the folks at PetSmart.com's 800 # are still saying they don't know of any new shipments. I'm getting down to the bottom of the barrel with respect to the granules, but I am reluctant to use replacements after reading about some broken LitterFrees (complete with floods!) on line after others tried to jury rig something. Any more info on how or where to order the real thing would be most welcome!

Litter Free Supplies back

Postby magric » Wed Sep 03, 2003 8:50 am

Hi - No granules are showing up yet, but I'll bet they're next. The cleaner fluid is definitely back (can order online at either petsmart.com or petco.com; petsmart.com is cheaper) and so are the machines. My guess is they prioritized the cleaning fluid (smell), but if the rest Litter Free is back, granules have to be coming soon.

where can I order Litter Free refills???

Postby shunt » Fri Sep 05, 2003 6:55 pm

I live in the Portland, Oregon area. I have one more box of granuales left and have been using Lysol cleaner in the first cycle run of the Litter Free. Seems to be cleaning/disinfecting ok. I have gone on-line to Petsmart.com, Petco.com and do not see where we can order Litter Free refills. Does anyone know the trick to ordering refills from these two companies. Have you been able to find refills at these stores in the past few months???

Lysol and Cats

Postby ricster » Tue Sep 09, 2003 6:11 pm

Sheila-
Please
Go to the lysol web site and study the msds.

Lysol contains phenols, which are deadly to cats.
Permanent damage to their central nervous system is hardly worth the savings.
