You may want to do what we have been doing. We keep the LR off when we are not home. When we are home we leave it on. That way we can monitor how our kitten reacts to the LR when it is in motion. We praise him and pet him as much as possible when he does not swat at the LR during it's cleaning cycle. When he does swat at the LR we do not praise or pet him, we just pick him up and bring him into the other room. We NEVER do or say anything negative when he swats. The last thing we want him to do is associate the LR with negativity.

well...it looks like we only had the one slip-up. she looked so embarrassed about what she did... right after she had her little accident, i sat her in front of the LR and petted her...no growling, no hissing...i am keeping on eye on her...when it goes off and she doesn't run i give her treats...she seems to like that :)

the petting has worked...a little too well

this morning i was awakened by a very happy vega...head-butting...purring...was still kind asleep so i didn't really understand why all the super cuteness... so i petted her on the head and she laid down...still purring...then i hear the LR go off in the other room...and she just goes crazy with the headbutting and puring...lol :D then it clicks...she used the LR and was trying to get her praises for being a good kitty...even if that meant petting herself with my hand :? boy i have silly cats

Sometimes after my cat uses the LR, he comes blasting out of there like it's the best thing he's done all day. It's way in the back of the house so he tears down the hall, bounds into the living room and is ready to party.

marco and babs do that...lol babs is the funniest though...she was the one i always had litterbox issue with...she would hold till she could hold it anymore cause she didn't like going in a litterbox unless it was freshly cleaned....not anymore---she is in there constantly...i think she has gotten a little more regular :? it s like having a new cat..she will be six next month and she is acting like a kitten :o

turned to feliway

Postby clayjn » Wed Feb 08, 2006 11:47 pm

still having some problems with vega....boy is she stubborn. i finally had to thow away the rug...she kept peeing on it even after it was cleaned. apparantly, linoleum is not as appealing to her lol. been using the feliway for a few days now...seems to due the trick...she looks a bit confused by the scent though. its like she knows i am trying to trick her :? ...but after the 3rd day of spraying it i did see her rub her face on the step ....i am hopeful :) ...my other two cats love it...a little too much...they treat it like an amusement park ride lol

Postby clayjn » Sat Jun 24, 2006 12:06 pm

well it has been six months since i got the LR...and after a few snags with stubborn kitties and touchy sensor...i am glad to report all is well. the real problem with vega was solved...it seems she has some arthritis in her back hips...switched her food, gave her a step....and voila'...she is using the bot like a pro :)
