Did discover that the LR WILL start with the kitty inside; doesn't move a lot, or cycle, but starts and goes 'bump.' Our cat is pretty feisty, so in the midst of exploring why the dang thing was moving and entering to do her business, she got an unpleasant electric 'rrrrr' and a tiny shift in the box, which prompted a hurried exit. Other kitties might find this extremely alarming. She still uses it, but is certainly more wary. For future design, the box needs to have a cutoff that absolutely makes it impossible to even turn on when the cat is in it, otherwise litter training will be problematic.

You should email this to LR directly, I think they have a recomendation email address or some sort of feedback address. They have actually responded to each one I have sent them.
