Litter Robot Availability?

Postby rnishi » Mon Aug 23, 2004 8:37 pm

Is the Litter Robot only available from the manufacturer website?

I currently use (until last night) a Littermaid Plus, and it has worked ok since I got it about a year ago. It is true it was messy, but I thought I had to put up with it, I check it every day, to make sure it was not clogged, empty the receptacle once a week for 2 cats, and do a thorough cleaning every few months. Every few days or week, the rake would get stuck, and I would have to redistrubute the clumps and litter, but then it worked fine. I recommended it to all of my friends. I still think it is better than a regular cat box.

But last night one of the wheels broke, and it is unusable. I tried today to find out about getting replacement parts, and after reading a lot of internet discussions, and amazon reviews of the Littermaid, I realized that most people are not really happy with it, and many people switched to the Litter Robot. They also said parts are hard to get, and customer service is bad. I read most of the posts on the first page of this message board, and am impressed so far.

I will admit that the price scared me at first, but my husband surprised me and said it will be worth it. So we are considering getting one. But we do need it soon. I set up the old cat box, and we just moved into a new house, I think we may be pushing the cats a bit with too many changes.

Is the Litter Robot available at a store?
Also, what is the best all-around litter, based on price, and not getting the robot too dirty?

Thanks.

litter robot availability

You can get one only from the manufacturer I think.

However, if you want to get one that I bought and have never used, I would be happy to sell it to you for a discount. I have two actually. One has never been used, one is slightly used. I haven't been able to get my cats to use them, and I just moved to a new house, where there is no place large enough for me to put the litter robot.

I love the idea, and the one cat that did use the robot when I had one up and running had no trouble with it. She took to it right away and I was so hoping the other three would as well. Sadly, the other three are older and set in their ways and just would not use it no matter what I tried.

I still highly recommend it, and most cats do use it.

So, if anyone is interested in either a slightly used one, or one that has never been used at all, please reply to this post and let me know if you are interested, or email me at mailto:Souldancerusa@yahoo.com

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, but would be willing to ship it.

I am very interested in trying a LR - the positive posts to this and other sites have been encouraging.

Here's my story... I have two Munchkins that I had trained to use the toilet. However, after a few months one of them changed her mind. She would jump up and pee, then jump down and poop on the floor right next to the toilet. I tried everything to get her back on track and after eight months of (almost) bliss I gave in and gave them back their litter box. They are delighted. I am sad. I can handle the work to clean it if I must, but it's the smell I can't stand. And they are not good at covering up when they've finished.

I am not thrilled at the price, so may be interested in a second hand one. Have some concern about not having a warranty, but if the price it right, I'm in.

Tara, I sent you an email to see if you still have one available and to get more information.

Thank you to all who have shared their experiences. Your comments are extremely helpful and look forward to hearing more success stories.

You might try the Omega Paws first, if you're concerned about price. It will give you a feel for what the LR can do and is under $60, I think.

Smell isn't completely removed by the LR, but if you're good about emptying the tray, then the smell won't be a problem. However, if you're going to empty it daily, you might as well try the Omega Paws.

Just a thought.

What a good idea! I'm thinking I can jump over to another link within this site and find out how to get one. I'll do that now.

Thanks for the tip!

BTW - I love this web site

Litter robot for sale

Postby TaraW » Thu Sep 09, 2004 9:23 am

Hello everyone,
I've gotten a lot of inquiries about my liter robots, and today I just got a rather angry toned email from someone who said "So you don't have one for sale? If so you should just say so on the web site".

I have nooo idea who wrote that, or why they would.

I do still have both of them, but no one has of yet made the commitment to actually buy one of them.

I paid $400 (including tax and shipping) for mine, and I think folks were not happy with the price that I was asking, since for just slightly more they can get a new one with the warranty. I *fully* support that. I want folks to get the best deal they can.

But as of now I still have both for sale. I've changed what I'm offering them for to $275 and $300, and it only makes financial sense for someone who lives close enough to pick it up so that they don't have to pay for shipping (they are heavy).

Please though, don't send me angry email. I'm a nice person who is well intentioned and have even talked a few people out of buying mine since I thought they could get a better deal elsewhere.

I'm just trying to be helpful. I don't need to start my day with flames.

thanks.

I am sorry that you got angry email. You definitely did not deserve that. As for your prices, if I lived closer, I would buy yours instead of a new one, because including shipping, there is a big cost difference. But if you are not having any buyers, you might need to change your prices, or let more people know it is for sale. Maybe you can post a message in the classified section on this website. Or maybe try ebay? There are 2 for sale right now, and a few weeks ago there are not any. The "supply" on ebay is definitely low, compared to the "demand". I think this says a lot for the quality of litter robot compared to littermaid. People just are not selling them. Good Luck!
