Cycle not trigger by cats

Postby egravel » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:58 pm

Hi guys,

I have 2 cats (1 male and a female) and I think both are not triggering the cleaning cycle. Here are my thoughts and what I've tried...

1) I thought it might be because it's not sensitive enough so I adjusted it where barely any pressure triggers it but the red light won't remain when cycle is done.

2) #1 perform and it still doesn't work

3) So I tried to watch them go in (man can that take a long time!) and I think I saw them a few times just jumping in it or standing up onto the globe's lip and not the drawer's lip.

Given #3 (no stepping on the drawer's lip/step), what could I do? I tried using that carboard step they sell on their site but that just makes it easier for my cats to just jump into the globe and not even rest their paw on any lip/step. The only idea I have left is to somehow attach a type of step extender which might force them to get on it, thereby triggering the sensor.

Any other ideas?

I can set my LR to be so sensitive that just walking near it will trigger the sensor. Surely these cats aren't weightless!

Keep turning the sensor until it is on all the time, then turn it slightly back until it's no longer on all the time. It should then be very sensitive.

This can become a problem when the drawer fills and puts weight on the sensor. You'll get the blinking red light and will have to adjust it again.

Yeah, since posting, I've turned the knob as you mentioned to the lightest tension while having a somewhat filled drawer. I've also purchased litter-robot's carboard ramp. they seem to have taken to walking up the ramp and touch the drawer step.

Thanks for the help!
