Litter Outside the Box

Postby Amay25 » Wed Feb 16, 2011 5:38 pm

So I've been using the Tidy Cats Breeze system, which is almost a breeze (except you have to scoop the poop and change the pads). The main reason I have kept it is that there is virtually no litter that travels, no dust, no stepping on tiny pieces of litter. With a toddler, this is VERY important! But I miss the automatic boxes...but they all use the litter that travels.

Anyone have a solution?

Nothing stuck to the paws

I have used the Breeze and somewhat reluctantly come back to it. The Genie was awful - with the diarrea, it never got washed out and then it was blown dry with hot air. Smelled up everything. That was worse than anything. I got a full refund though and there is a lot to be said for the integrity of that company to refund everything.

The Breeze has a smell of an open sewer (if you have travelled rural 3rd world countries, you know what that is like) however I can locate it in the garage which is at the edge of the house. I am trying to empty it often, definitely scoop it daily. I am putting things like Pine Sol in the lower drawer to test odor coverage. I like the fact little to no litter is brought into the house and mostly my cat stays cleaner. The urine smell is too much though. The pads have absolutely no odor control and they last 3 days for one hyperthyroid female - and frankly - baby diapers are cheaper than those pads. Otherwise it is little to no waste for the garbage - since the pellets are quite large, they don't stick. Budget wise, this is pretty good and no lugging a bag of litter to the garbage can.

None of these systems seem fool proof - I'm disillusioned overall. My next kitty will be toilet trained or trained to use the basement drain spot.
