WE love it. The cats? Not so sure yet. :)

We've had it set up for two days. We left one old litterbox out. So far, of three cats, one has used it. The second just peeks in. And the third (the oldest and most curmudgeonly) I'm guessing will only go in when we eventually take the old box away. Both the little ones come running whenever they hear it, and are very curious when it does it's rotation... but aren't loving it (yet?).

Anyhoo. Has anyone else had this issue: the cat jumping straight into the box without using (activating) the step? So far, this is what Kitty #1 is doing. I'm thinking maybe the step isn't big enough? Or maybe there could somehow be an sensor in the actual unit itself so when the cat hits the litter, the timer is started? If they keep avoiding the step and we have to manually cycle it...it loses some of its efficiency. (Granted, this is only day two, but I'm thinking ahead!)

I'll be back with updates.

I don't think they have to step directly on the step to trip the sensor since wobbling the whole globe will trip it. My kitten only trips it maybe half the time he walks in but he always trips it when he jumps out and he never lands on the step. Sometimes he'll trip it when he's inside digging around.

You can always increase the sensitifivty of the sensor as described in the manual.

We're planning on resetting the sensitivity...but I wasn't aware that jiggling the globe would also trip it. Cool beans.

I just verified it. Any forward motion inside the globe will trip the sensor. It's very difficult for a cat to get out of the globe without rocking it forward. It helps to have the LR on a solid surface since carpet padding will allow the base to rock along with the globe.

Well, we're sure the two little ones are using it...(it went off--and woke me up--three times last night)...but are unsure if big daddy is. :) We *think* so, but he also still loves being on the porch (where we know he's using a plant for a litterbox).

Well, the older male cat just used it... except there was one problem. It seems he peed directly or mostly into the "fill" hole, so during the cleaning cycle, we ended up with wet clumps on the outside of the robot. I'm guessing the fill holes are protected by the kitty guards, so that it runs down into the waste tray??? But we certainly didn't like the clumps to clean up! (I'm also posting in a new thread to make sure my problem gets seen!)

So is it very loud when it goes off. Someone said it woke them up three times in the night. My litterbox isn't too far from my bedroom now right outside my bathroom. Rose

Just an update.

Everyone is using the robot with no major issues..although none of them LOVE it. LOL The two kittens still approach it cautiously, as if it's prey, then slowly stick their heads in. The adult cat doesn't like it but uses it...so I can't ask for more!

Your so lucky!! My cats wont use it yet. I have one nasty litter box sitting right next to it. I sprayed some catnip spray in it and one watched me throw a treat in there. There scared I guess never had a hooded box before. But it's only been since Tuesday when I got it. I leave tomorrow amfor out of town. Someone suggested that calming spray or plugin. I went to a couple places today one had the plug in but was out and it was 34.95 and neither place had the cat attract litter. I pray mine start using it soon. Once they see they can go in and stick there head out I think they will be ok. I want them to use it so bad. I play with them by it pet them give them treats by it. I may have to cut the box and put it over it but I hate to ruin it since I may have to return it. Rose

If your cat(s) like chasing things, try throwing one of their toys into it. You could also try setting it to fill mode and dangling a toy through one of the fill holes.

Ok I am kind of excited. I bought some cat attract litter today for 8.88 a small bag. The comfort zone plug in was like 39 bucks so I decided to wait on that. I bought them a fresh new catnip toy stuck it in there plus I stuck the lid to the cat treats I bought them in the very back with some treats in it. My big cat whom I thought woudln't fit went in there twice and jumped out. She was on the steps looking in and she got her a treat so I moved it back further and she went all the way in twice I am so happy she fits and went in. But each time she hurried up and turned around and jumped out she didn't walk down the step. So do you think she knows there's litter in there now and what it is? I only put a cup of cat attract on top of the litter that was in there and I added a bit of there old stinky litter. There's so much poop in there old litterbox it's awful it stinks so bad in my bathroom. But do you think just putting some cat attract over the top of what was in there is ok and I added a touch of there litter. I didn't want to empty the whole thing and add all cat atrract litter. But I don't think she went in there cause of the litter it was cause of the treats. And I just went back there and the last 2 treats were gone so she was in there 3 times already even though she would jump right out.

Now to get my younger other cat to go in there. She's laying back there now. But now that I know my big cat fit in there and was in there I am more hopeful. I am leaving tomorrow morning so hopefully come Sunday night when I get home they will have gone in the new one cause there old one is so filthy. But if there is stuff in there I won't know if there both using it or just the one that went in there now. And then I have to worry about the noise scaring them and it moving. But lets take one thing at a time. Thanks for all your help and for replying to me. Rose

It took a couple of weeks for all of our cats to use the box. Be patient. Lily was quick about it - the other two took longer. Each cat is different, but most cats I've heard about on this board eventually take to it.

Sounds like you're making progress.

So I need to leave there old litter box even if it takes 2 weeks? It's full of poop now and it stinks so bad in my bathroom. I am out of town till Sunday but I did get my one big cat to at least go in there and get the treats even though she jumped right back out she did it three times. My younger cat smells all around it and scratches her neck on it but is scared of it. I hate to spend money on that comnfort zone it;s expensive. The Cat Attract litter was 8.88 and I only poured some on top. I had just filled hte robot up with fresh step scoopable since I was using Fresh Step regular before. But I added some Cat Attract and there old box has a mixture of regular and scoopable fresh step so I added a bit of that also. Even if it takes a week as long as they both end up going in it I will be happy. Thanks for reassuring me that they will eventually go in it. I hope so!!! I hope to come home Sunday and see it's been used. But then the question will be was it by one of them or both?
