Cats will NOT leave it alone!

Postby frogsy » Fri Apr 16, 2010 4:54 pm

I'm not sure what to do because my cats will NOT leave the litter robot alone when it's cycling. Every time it starts turning, one of them jumps in, maybe does some business, and hops back out. Then when it starts up again, they do it all over, and we end up with all lights flashing. Any ideas? I don't want to shoo them away, because I want them to use the darn thing, but GAH! I can't leave it plugged in because they're always causing it to freak out.

You're lucky, 2 of my cats were petrified of it.

They'll be fine, but if you're too worried; turn it off when you go out and then turn it on when you get back (when you turn it on it will auto cycle) so you can monitor them.

They'll soon get used to it, maybe consider buying a new interesting toy and play with it with them whenever it cycles?

I totally agree with the previous poster. It only took a few days for my cats to ignore it when it cycled, until then, I just left it unplugged unless I could supervise. A new toy to play with the cats while it is cycling for the first few days is a perfect touch. You and your cats WILL love the litter-robot.

Don't you play with new gadgets when you get them? If you get a new cell phone, you maybe push all the buttons and see what they do. If you get a new car, you perhaps drive around just to play with your new toy. If you get a new computer, you may click on every icon to see what it does. After a while, these things just become another tool that you use as intended, but first you play with them, poke around on them, push buttons and see what you can make them do - then you get bored with the novelty and just let them do their job. It's the same with the cats and their new toy - they just want to 'push the buttons' and see what they can make it do. It'll get boring after a while and will become just the place they go to do their business. I've had my Litter Robot for about 3 years now and my cats stopped 'playing' with it after maybe a month or two.
