Major problem not mentioned??

Postby mxz-rxp » Mon May 18, 2009 12:46 am

I have the Litter Robot.

Very reliable, very powerful motor etc. Does NOT jamb. Does smell and the storage tray is small as othrs have said...

BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM:

The LR rotates to clean the litter, making the whole inside of the LR contaminated with dirty litter.

I have one cat that will get in and stick his head out the entrence hole, he has no problem with the LR, but my other cat likes to stay completly inside and it is NASTY in there!

So now she decided to just piss on the floor instead, returning to my old hand strained LB cured the problem for her.

The LR is the best designed automated cleaner with a major flaw, it is extremly dirty, and needs to be thouroghly cleaned at a car wash once a week, a pain that makes the LR useless for many cats! (and as most know cleaning clumping litter is a nightmare)

So if you have a finicky cat, save your money.

Hmmm... I have had the LR for two plus years, now, and although it does need to be cleaned, I haven't had to run down to a car wash once a week to maintain it. I have done a complete scrub and litter change about once every two months along with weekly cleaning/sanitation of the globe's interior.

Gee, can't say I've that experience with mine. My male cat (4 yrs. old) NEVER used to cover his mess; now, he hops in, turns around, does his business THEN digs to China. By the time the LR begins its cycle he has sufficiently covered his business. When I do a total dump, I don the rubber gloves, bucket of cleaning solution and away I go. I just don't use anything that is tooooooo strong of a scent.

Can't say I've had the same experience.

I am extremely satisfied with the LRII.

You need to use a better clumping litter. When my Litter Robot turns, the clumps are so hard that they sound like rocks when they tumble into the drawer. They do not pollute the interior of the globe. Other litters will create mushy clumps that will smear around.

Very few LR owners have cleaned their LR at a car wash although a power washer works great when it's available. In fact cleaning almost anything with a power washer works great!
