Globe Modifications

Postby barekitty » Tue Apr 28, 2009 4:45 pm

I tried doing a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. Has anyone had success (or not) at doing a globe modification to take it apart so it's easier to clean? I wanted to get some input before I tried. Anything good or bad would be helpful.
Thanks.

A few months ago I wanted to replace the liner inside the globe because my cats do a lot of digging and the liner has started to peel a little. I called LR and was told that the
way the globe is manufactured that the liner can't be replaced. I would have to replace it with a new globe. So I am guessing that the globe can't be taken apart or the liner
should be easily replaced. If an attempt was made to take it apart it looks like new rivets would be needed since there are no screws or bolts. Good luck!

I was thinking something along the lines of nuts and bolts instead of rivets. If that is possible? I thought maybe there was something easier than 'nuts and bolts' that would work like that, but easy to get on and off. I don't want to swap a pain in the neck cleaning for a pain in the neck putting bolts back in.
