Has anyone tried the Bubble Unit globe, yet? I am tempted just because the bubble would be a nice window of light in the globe...

What prevents the cat from peeing straight into the bubble where there isn't any litter? My cat already pees straight backwards and fouls up the back of the globe.

Yes, I've considered this -- i.e., would this window just result in more cleaning? The new cat is still adjusting to the LR -- seems to get plenty of litter out the door along with some waste... sometimes stuff all over everywhere. I wonder if the new lip and window might help.

none of these fix the major problem with the LR.

namely that it coats the inside of the globe with cat crap and wet clumping litter, oh boy!

after a few days it gets so bad many cats will not use it...

a redesign is in order-

I have my LR for almost 2 years and do not have the "major problem" you are experiencing. Any litter box ( auto or not ) needs to be maintained in order for the cats to have a clean and odor free place to relieve themselves. It sounds like the litter is not performing well and is coating inside the globe. I have tried several types of litter in the LR and never had the inside of the globe coated with litter. Sometimes a little of it
collects near the ports but it is not a large amount. To prevent odors getting bad I wipe the inside of the globe with clorox wipes or paper towel soaked with rubbing alcohol 2-3 times a week and wipe
the drawer with rubbing alcohol weekly. I use a wisk broom to sweep the inside of the globe every couple of days and this helps to keep the litter from collecting on the globe "ceiling". Most cats will turn around to face out of the globe but the Lip Extender & Fence seem to help the cats that do not turn.

mxz-rxp -- As posted in response to your other post, I have the LRII and am quite satisfied with it. I have not experienced what you are alluding to and am wondering what is going on/wrong in your situation. (My maintenance systems is about the same as Mima -- whisk broom, rubbing alcohol, etc.) My kitten solved his issues (noted in the post above) with no LRII changes. I'm not sure what made the difference -- perhaps just more experience with the LRII on his part. And, he seemed to be having digestive issues after moving in and adjusting to a new diet. I started supplementing his diet with a little cooked chicken once a day, the poop was no longer runny, and the extensive poop covering and litter flinging issues disappeared. I also went back to using World's Best Extra Strength exclusively in the LRII.

We just got our LRII a couple weeks ago. Must say the Lip and Fence have worked for us!

Initially we just used the lip until our 2 cats got used to climbing into the LR. During
this time, we got a fair amount of litter flying out as our cats like to dig. Additionally,
several times the kittens would pee on the lip and even once over the lip onto the step.

Installed the fence.

Now very little litter has come out of the LR. And we have yet to have an accident.

So far so good!
