I've had my box for a year now and love it!

I'm happy to report that months later, I still love my Litter Robot. I think it is the best designed product in my house!

I bought my original Model I Litter-Robot in August of 2002. That would be well over five years ago. It worked with only two minor failures that were quickly covered under warrantly even though the warrantly period was well expired BOTH times.

I purchased a new Model II Litter-Robot in April of this year, not becuase the old one "wore out" but becuase I wanted two of the "new" features, a slightly expanded capacity and "quieter" running.

I sold the old one for $75 to someone who'd done her research and was looking for a budget entry point.

The new one is much inproved in nearly every way and I just now took it apart for its "six month cleaning" and found it much cleaner and easier to clean up than the original one too..

When they say "appliance grade", they are not joking - these things just work and work and work...

Three Years this month. (November 2007, got in October 2004.) Two adults, now with a new kitten!

The only trouble I've had is when the cats cover enthusiastically (I'm looking at you, new kitten...) and pile up too much litter on one side, and the red light will blink, indicating it needs a reset.

My Supervisor, James Bond, loves to come and tell us that darn kitten has wonked out the Robot, and we unplug it and plug it back in again.

It took a year (detailed on this site under my old username, Adkpam) for James Bond to use it, but then Caution is his middle name. Since it had cut my litter chores in half, I kept it. And now I'm so glad, because everyone uses it easily and it's been marvy.

The rolling action of the globe means no stress on the motor, and I've found it quite good at containing the smells and keeping the litter clean. With a growing kitten, I now have to change it every two days, instead of every three, but that's also fine. It takes about 2 minutes, including dumping the mat in front.

Mr. Bond, by the way, is 15 pounds, and little of it fat. That was part of his reluctance, I'm sure. But now he loves it too.

I replied to this earlier and never saw it pop up. So I'll try again. Haven't been here in a while came here and found some of my old postings. I bought my litter robot in March of 2004. Best thing ever love it. I did have a small problem with the globe and the screen right after my 18 months was up and they sent me a new globe for free.. It was slightly different with a different kind of screen but I threw my old globe out and have had this thing for 4 years now. The rubber inside my globe is messed up in spots and there is a hole in the middle. Don't know if my cats back claws did it jumping out or how it got there. But here lately I find clumps stuck in the back and in the front that didn't make it in the drawer. I have to scoop them up and dump them out.. I don't know if when there peeing they spray the back and litter sticks but it's also in the fron as you walk in. I don't know if my screen is old and messed up again.. Yesterday I cleaned it good and put extra litter in there and will watch it for a week or so and see how it does. I called today to see about just buying a new globe but they called me back and said they didn't have any.. She told me all about the LRII and said they make reconditioned ones and I mentioned the coupon and she said oh it expired on 6/1. She said since I am an exisiting customer she could get me a new one for 15% off which wasn't much more than a reconditioned one so I would do that if I was to get a new one.. She said i was lucky to have had it last me over 4 years.. MIneis just old and i have to clean the whole thing more often and litter is all stuck where it is ripped. It's not a big rip and I could put tape over it..

But what I would like is to hear from those who has the 1st one and now have the new one. Mine sits in my small bathroom and tales up space? How much bigger is the new one than the old one? I like how the steps have holes in it cause I am always wipin g off my step now.. But does it smell more does the smell come up through the holes.. I guess if i had the new one I would put some baking soda in there. Now when my cat poops I flush it and try to just keep pee clumps in there so it doesn't smell as much. I sometimes scopp up the bad and dump it outside with my trash every day.. But if i don't do that I change my bad every 3-5 days I have to cats. My newest kitten took to it right away too.. Lexi she is a year old now. My dear Tinker RIP passed away 4/9/07 and she and Zoe~ used it all the time after a week or more getting used to it. But Lexi as soon as I brought her home went right in it. Anyway is it worth getting the new one? Is it that much better than the old one? What is the noise level compared to the old one? I know it has the holes in the steps but what else is different. Oh the drawer I think she told me the stuff tends to move to the back and not all stay clumped to the front so does that mean you can leave the bag in there maybe a day or so longer? I need to decide if I want the new one or not. Is a LRIII coming out anytime soon? I should of asked her that today whe I had them on the phone. But I would appreciate opinions on what to do and what you like about the II compared to the 1st one.. Thanks, Rose

Update re: longevity.

Just got our LR II, after four years with v1.0. I had two cats for three years, no problems, then adopted a neglected kitten with starvation issues, so the last year the 'Bot got a pretty good workout.

The only thing wrong with the old one turned out to be the four glide points where the globe turns. We gave it to friends who are going to replace them, and I see no reason they won't get a few more years out of it.

Happy to report that it has been over a year with the LR and no major complaints, issues or technical problems. Did try many different litters, odor control products to figure out what
was the best for the cats and myself. I really like the fact it is realiable and when I come home the LR is always operating. Unlike other boxes I have used, I haven't had to call the LR
company for any issues. My cats do dig a lot on the liner so I can see that in the future I might need to replace the globe but that is minor anoyance. The LR company has made improvements
by listening to their customers and they have been helpful when I have called. The LR is easy to maintain and is simple to operate and make adjustments. The cats also adjusted to the LR
very quickly and I can see that this will be their box for a very long time.

I've only had my Litter Robot for one week and loooooooooooooooove it to death. Both of the cats have been receptive to it. Although I was holding my breath on the male cat. For some reason, he just likes to "walk" into the box without turning around . . . but I've watched him numerous times and believe it or not, all of a sudden he's turning around and going like a good boy.

I think that little black rubber curved lip is helping him? He kind of leans on it and supports himself so he looks like he's sitting up tall while he does his business.

Once he's done his business, he "shoots" out of the Litter Robot like someone got his tail -- haven't figured out why, yet? But hey . . . I'm not going to complain . . . no more scooping, the cat gets a freshly raked little pan every, single time they go in and life is grand.

I did notice one of the cats coming back to "watch" the show . . . leaning on the step and of course stopping the process.

So far, so good (in my opinion).
