DONE! The LR2 globe has them under the liner. All you see are the tops of the bolts covered in some sort of protective plastic goop.

Whoops! I actually have the LR2, and didn't realize those were just the bolt tops vs. the actual weight. One of my cats is a major digger, and the plastic goop has been scratched off so I thought that was the weight!

In fact I think the weights were below the liner even with the original LR. I don't think the bolts were covered so they eventually rusted. I think they use stainless steel bolts now.

That was also a problem with the original screen. It was galvanized but the relentless tides of abrasive cat litter passing through it wore the zinc off so it turned to rust too. The plastic covered screen has been more durable.

So far, the darned thing has been flawless.

2 cats.
I change the bag twice a week.
I pressure wash the globe every 2 months.
As a cat lover, it has changed my life.

I'm thinking they could have a more elegant trigger switch design.
The whole box pivots on the switch.
It works, but could be more subtle.

I also think the step could be better.
It works fine, but I would prefer something that could be opened and cleaned.
If there was a way to prevent scatter, that would be great too.

That being said...
This product is a genius design.
It is well worth the price.

I think it would be a grand idea to move the control to the side away from the entrance.
This would alleviate the "urinating on the control panel" problem.
