Peeing on the ledge... my "solution"

Postby msw10100 » Thu Aug 26, 2004 4:58 pm

I simply put the drawer completely inside a 13 gallon kitchen bag and slide it into the Litter-Robot bag and all.

Now, with the drawer completely enclosed in a bag, and the plastic bag sticking outside the robot to cover the lip of the drawer as well, there's no way for the urine to run down inside the drawer and collect. The cats scoop litter out of the robot onto the lip, thereby soaking up the urine so that it doesn't smell, at least not as badly.

When I change the bag, I simply pull the drawer, bag and all, set it INSIDE another trash bag, and pull the clean drawer out from inside its bag. I stick the drawer inside another bag, slid it into the robot, and I'm done.

I've not had to wash or sanitize the drawer for four months!

Urine Under the Pan

Postby Kitty Rumpus » Fri Nov 19, 2004 12:48 pm

I have found urine under the pan in my LR and never had a clue about how it got there until I read this thread. Thanks.

I really don't like the sponge parts as they never seem to be cleanable and they keep the litter from being brushed out of the bottom when some gets in there. I hope in the revised LR they use a more wipe-able material for those areas.

I'd also like to have better pour holes as, especially with large bags of litter, I tend to pour litter all over the floor as well as in the holes. And it would be very helpful to me to have some way of telling how much litter I have added.
These complaints don't mean I don't love the LR. I'd buy several more if I could afford it. I also like Lauren's idea of getting really big ones for large dogs. Mine don't like having to go out in cold nasty weather, and I don't blame them. Unfortunately, right now they don't have a choice, and the weather is just going to get worse for the next few months.
