Litter Bot will Not Cycle Please Help!!!

Postby RGilbertson » Sun Jan 06, 2008 1:37 am

I have had the LR for about 2 and a half weeks now and I love it, and my babies love it. Unfortunatelly tonight it stopped cycling, it will go timed mode when the cat goes in, and after the 7 minutes the yellow light comes on but it does not move, after a long time all the lights start flashing.

I took the globe off to see if it was jammed, I put boards under it to keep it on a flat surface, it was on my carpent and had no problems, this didn't work either so I moved it to the kitche floor to see if that would reset it and it didn't. I am completely out of ideas and go figure things always go wrong when the office is closed so you can't get ahold of any one.

I have already called customer service, and lef a message, and I hope to hear from them on Monday,

Has anyone had this happen to them and if so how did you get it to work? Any advuce would help.

I hope that this can be resolved quickley, Loki, Lada and I have all been toooooo spoiled by this machine.

(Scott Larsen is your best bet for addressing this question but I'll give it a try.) The yellow light means the LR is cycling... the red light means the LR is in use... and green, of course, ready for use.

(I just found my manual). When all three lights blink once per second it means that the Globe can't find the home position... so re-level and sounds like you have tried that... Lights on the control panel blinking twice per second means the globe is jammed or obstructed.... Turn off the unit and unplug the cord... remove obstruction (might try vacuuming the base-- where the rotation wheel is, both at the rotation wheel, the little square opening above the wheel and in the area under the wheel -- check the door inside the globe to assure this isn't obstructed and is closing properly -- these are guesses on my part) and assure that the globe is seated correctly -- the rim of the globe should be seated in the slots of the base -- the right hand side seated in the slot over the wheel -- the globe will fit snugly when seated correctly. Plug in cord. Turn on the globe and see what happens.

Only other thing I can think of is to play with the sensor under the base of the globe for a bit and see what happens. If none of those suggestions work, it's customer service time.

Good luck!

My guess is that the sensor is getting stuck on after the cat exits. Adjust the sensor (as described in the manual) to decrease the sensitivity. You'll only want it to be sensitive enough for the cat to trigger it. If your cat doesn't weigh much, this will be tricky. If you cat jumps into the LR like mine does, it's less difficult.

I've found that adjustment of the sensor is trickier with the LR2 because the bigger drawer can hold much more waste and that extra weight can help keep the sensor stuck on when it starts to fill up.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I turned off the unit, cleaned everything, made sure nothing was blocking or jamming anything, adjusted the sensitivity...nothing works! The light is still yellow and the unit is not cycling. I came home from work and it was like this...never had a problem before. HELP!

For me, the sensor adjustment is the key.
When I get the yellow light freeze... I just mess with the turning of the foot screw.
It sometimes seems counterintuitive... but eventually I get it zoned in.
Turn it... then turn the unit off and on...
Repeat until it works.

I'm coming up on 3 years with no scooping.
1 new globe, but original base and motor.
I can't calculate the number of poos and pees.
Would have been approx 2190 scoops, I guess, vs. 312 bag changes and pressure spray cleaning every 3 months. (about 12 times)

I consider the LR to be an amazing invention.

Truly a benefit to the human/feline relationship continuum.
