How does LR handle the wet stuff?

Postby pachamisha » Sun Nov 11, 2007 8:38 pm

I'm just wondering if it does a good job with wet litter. Ie. Does the wet litter actually get released from the bottom of the container when it tips over? The reason I ask is I find the wet litter sticks to the bottom of a regular litter box and I don't think gravity alone is enough to knock it off, know what I mean?

There shouldn't be a problem with litter sticking in the globe. The globe is programmed to turn on
automatically 7 minutes after the cats use it so the litter doesn't really have time to settle at the
bottom. I first used Tidy Cats with crystals and now use Ultra Pearls litter. Both didn't have any
sticking issues. Other folks have had success with other types of litter. Good luck!

Sorry but your reply doesn't make sense to me. The litter doesn't "settle at the bottom". My cats dig to the bottom of the box and do their business so the litter is already at the bottom, where it sticks.

The litter bed is on a rubber liner. When the globe starts the cleaning program all the
clean litter moves into a clean department , the wet and dirty litter is "knocked off" the liner.
The liner moves slightly away from the globe as it turns so litter doesn't have time to turn to
"concrete". I hope that makes more sense.

When I clean my robot, I spray the liner with a silicone spray so that it releases the wet clumps more easily. Goodluck!

The Litter Robot's trick is that the liner is flexible with a weight in its center. As the globe turns, the weight pulls the liner down causing it to hang down into the globe. This flexes the liner and tends to knock off any litter that's sticking to it.

No, it is not a perfect system. Litter stuck to the edges of the liner will usually hang on since that part of the liner doesn't move as much when the globe turns.
