Our baby-cat, Lily, likes to perch in litterboxes, too. It's been her trick since kittenhood and she did it with the LR when we first got it. She's a weird little creature as my sister likes to say.

Good luck. Keep us informed about your progress. The humor is always great.

Well if any body is still interested I lost the battle. The cat never used it, not once. I finally gave it to my brother (blackmail for helping me out in house renovations  ) , one of his fuzzy children has diabetes and has been using the robot on a regular basis along with his other two mouse munchers one of which hit 21 lbs earlier this year!!!!!! Everybody loves it!
It's funny to watch the large one turn around inside the LR, it looks like a moving white wall of fur, then you see an eye and a nose, a second or two later you see his...ummm "tail" then he turns some more and gets settled, does his bidness and oozes out.
What's funny is my brother made fun of me and the "concrete mixer" then suddenly when he has to empty the litter box three times a day it's "Hey if your cat won't use it can I try it?"
'Scuse me for now I gotta make a list for my brothers next visit....

Replace front door
fix gutter
remove old oil heater
re-tile bathroom......oops-sorry!
I call her "my cat". She calls me anytime.

Dugs,

I'm sorry the cat didn't like the new box. Your brother's cat is getting use out of it, though? I guess you could make cleaning your cat's box one of your brother's chores in a mean twist?

Put her inside?

Postby jm » Sat Jun 19, 2004 10:56 am

This may be a silly question. But I didn't see you say what happened when you put her inside the litter robot.

Have you tried just putting a scoop of the old used litter inside the robot (with new litter) and then physically putting the cat inside the robot?

Physically placing a cat in a litterbox is generally a no-no if they put up any resistance at all. You're just reinforcing their aversion to the box. Better to entice the cat in with catnip or curiosity.

OK folks,
I never said that I put her inside, I held her to show her the LR while whispering sweetly in her ear, giving her back scratchies the entire time.
That particular effort earned my humble self the unique experience of a fourteen pound cat climbing up my shoulder and jumping off my back. The Macarena ain't got nothing on those moves!
I've tried treats, the used litter, cut out box, corncob litter, sacrificing small rodents to the god of felines, taking the globe and putting it on her old lb,
using the old lb on the pan of the LR, holding long pieces of metal towards the sky during a thunderstorm, removing the old lr... you name it. I've had some very good suggestions from the good people here and she is just plain ole' scared of the darn thing.
My brothers two very large cats would rather use the LR now than go out side, one even sits his turn and does his Bidness right after the other cat which creates a problem because he is 21lbs, and white and he gets dingleberries on him because the LR hasn't cycled yet from the first cat and since Seemore is so large he acts like an oversized q-tip "stuff" just sticks to him!
I've had cats my entire life and each one has their own very distinct personality and traits. This one simply does not like the LR for her own reasons.
Go figure. :?
I call her "my cat". She calls me anytime.
