You'll find that you will use lots less litter than in the traditional litter box. You may be able to just add some litter every week for a month or two before you change all the litter in the globe. Likely depends on how many cats you have. With two cats, I am doing a complete litter change about every two months (do have those crystals, though...)

Just another quick update....
Yesterday was my first full day back @ home with the LR. Both cats chose to use the LR the entire day instead of the regular box!!! They went more than 24 hours without using the regular box.
This morning I removed the regular box. It seems they both like the LR and are on the right track! YAY!
