My guess is that the sensor is not detecting the magnet in the track. Does the globe turn roughly? Does the gear lift it out of the track when it turns?

Hi,

FYI: We ordered a new LR2 and am now selling the old one on the classified board. I have a toddler and a 3 month old and I'm trying to write a dissertation. Fixing the LR is just too much of a hassle for me at the moment.

Please help - my LR is doing this now! It rotates counterclockwise to the point where the waste ports are opened, then it hesitates and seems to be stuck. The yellow light is flickering (not blinking), almost like it is shorting out. This goes on for a couple of seconds, then the globe continues rotating in the counterclockwise direction, instead of returning to its home location. During this process, the collected litter essentially falls to the bottom of the globe, and dust flies everywhere. This might happen 2 or 3 times before it figures out how to switch directions.

This has been happening for just the past couple of days. I've cleaned the globe, made sure no gook was in the base and its crevices, etc. The outside of the globe is smooth, so I don't think it needs any sanding.

My kitty has been getting older and I've discovered recently that she isn't turning around like she used to. Tried the coin trick, which didn't work. So I cover the control panel with plastic wrap now. There is a good chance that I may have started doing this too late.

This is an original LR, and I've had it since early 2006. Is it time for a new one? Is 3 years a decent product lifespan for the Litter Robot?
