Litter Robot Arriving Soon!

Postby jeff » Sat Feb 22, 2003 4:46 pm

Folks,

We've had a Litter Robot on order for quite some time now, and word has it that it will be here next week. We plan to do some extensive testing of this unit and will follow up here with comments, and eventually, a full review. Three cats are involved in this project.

If anyone has any questions or comments before testing begins, please share them here. Thank you!

Litter Robot

Postby Nayners » Mon Mar 03, 2003 10:27 pm

Hi,
Just stumbled upon this while looking for help on my Litter Robot. We received it about 2 weeks ago. I have two cats; Shenaenae and Quincy. Naynay I've had since birth and uses the 'Bot just fine. Quincy was a rescue kitty who has been very skittish in the past but has mellowed out.
Since the arrival of the Litter Robot he has resorted back to square one; freaking out, peeing and pooping all over the place.
This machine rocks my world. I got it w/ the litter guards, no litter spills, it's super quiet. I change the bag on it once a week; it's awesome.
I just can't get Quincy to use it! I don't want to return it; I think it's the best $350 I've ever spent!
It's very frustrating to have such a great tool and not be able to get your cat to use it.
I'm gonna go back and put the old litter box next to it just to keep him from peeing on my bed (already been checked for UTI, trust me, it's behavioral). We'll see how this goes.
From the sounds of things, I've got the best litter box on the market.
I just need to find a way somehow to get Quincy to believe it!
Wish me luck and e-mail me if you have any questions on the Litter Robot (or possibly might want to buy a very slightly used one, we'll see...)
Thanks for letting me talk.

Nayners,

Thanks for your comments. I am very encouraged. Unfortunately I still don't have mine yet. Apparently there are some manufacturing delays. The litter-robot is hand-made!

Contact?

Postby RyogaJYC » Tue Mar 11, 2003 4:05 pm

I'm wondering if you ever received your Litter Robot.

After reading this site and various others, I've been interested in getting one as well. I've tried calling them yesterday and today and all I've been able to get is an answering machine. Has anyone been able to contact this company lately?

I'm wondering if this is a (really) small business and being so, little things cause big problems. Like some manufacturing issue causing lack of customer service, etc. Anyhow, I don't mind if they product does what everyone says it does (I'm still a bit skeptical since I'm currently toying with the LitterMaid). But it is a bit frustrating since I'm so anxious to try one of these Litter Robots out. :)

Lucky you, though I guess you've been waiting a long time already...

I just got a call back from Automated Pet Care Products and I placed an order with them. They said it's back-ordered for 4 weeks, so I have to sit tight a bit.

Hope you get your soon and that this is what everyone says it is. :)

Contacting the Litter-Robot People

Postby cas » Tue Mar 11, 2003 7:53 pm

RyogaJYC:

I haven't had trouble contacting the litter-robot company. I usually phone them around 10 am Central Time. They've answered the phone each time I've called.

They are a small company from the sounds of things. I spoke with one receptionist who had just been hired. They fullfill orders in the order in which they are received. You can call them (if you can reach them) and ask what the status is. They look you up on the list, tell you what their current delay is, and give you an ETA. It takes them a long time to get the product out, but at least they're honest about the delays and polite.

I am hoping that mine will come next week. They also said that they'll e-mail a tracking number as soon as they send it. I'm sure they will - but its hard waiting.

Hope that helps you.

Litter Robot Review in a Multi-Cat Household

Postby phbryant » Tue May 06, 2003 10:20 pm

We received the litter robot about one month ago. It was very easy to assemble and light weight. I am an engineer by profession, so I wanted to see how well this thing was built. I was happy with the construction and the components are very simple and easy to work on. We have five indoor cats that always make the house interesting. Four of the cats started using the litter robot right away. One (we've always had problems with on any litter box) we are still working on. I think she's coming around though. We keep the litter box in our sunroom and use just scoopable litter from SAM's with the fine mesh. We have to empty the pan about every 2-3 days. It's really easy and takes about 2 minutes. We use just regular white trash bags from WalMart. The sensor on this system is really just a spring loaded contact. The weight of the cat pushes the spring down and the circuit breaks -- 7 minutes later the rotation/cleaning cycle begins. The noise is not bad (I wouldn't want it next to the bedroom though). There are a couple of openings on the side of the system that allow the litter to drop into the pan when it rotates. These will allow some litter to be kicked out by cats occasionally. This is what the litter guards are all about on the website. We just have a litter mat down to catch this if it happens, but they would make it better (I actually thing they should be included with the system other than an add on). Typically, the smell is not an issue, but after a couple of days for us it let's you know you need to change the bag. I am very happy with this product so far. We did a lot of research before the purchase, and I believe we chose the best product on the market.

Excellent. I'm glad to hear a comment from another engineer about this litter box. I'll check the Litter Robot out in person, then decide from there. All the documentation on the web site and the design look promising...
