Litter Robot for 15yr old Cat?

Postby 3Cats » Thu Oct 19, 2006 12:24 pm

To start with, I started looking at the Litter Robot a few months ago. It seems to be the only one which works reliably for long periods of time. My parents used to have a litter maid, but that turned out to be more trouble than it was worth.

To get to the point, I have three cats. One is fifteen years old (female) and the other two are one year old males. I have been having problems with the fifteen year old (Coke) where she refuses to poop in the box if it is not perfectly clean. She has been to the vet twice to see if there was any medical reason for this, but the vet said there wasn't and gave me a prescription fore Elavil (kitty prozac). I have two boxes (one covered and one not) in a 1500 sqft condo. Coke generally prefers the uncovered box, but I have seen her use the covered one before

Basically, I am trying to figure out if a cat of this age will use the box and if the litter robot helped anyone else who has had a cat with this kind of problem. I should also mention that Coke and one of the kittens weigh about 10-11lbs each and the other kitten weighs close to 14lbs. Will this cause a problem?
Thanks for any help!

No Problem for my girls!

When I got the Litter Robot a week ago (I thought it was longer) but no...

I cleaned out the Omega Roll over and packed it away and set up the New Litter Robot and went and took a nap.

My son said both girls used it. However they are only 5 and 6 months old.

The 6 month old is going to be a big girl and already she fills up the tiny space inside and sits there LOOKING OUT with that far away look in her eyes as she does her business.

We don't have anymore "group Poop's." They liked to go in together into the BIG OMEGA... and two just don't fit anymore!

All cats are different and the older they get, the more set in their ways they get. So buying a Litter Robot for Older Cats is a chance you have to take.

I wasn't going to play the game of keeping one set up "JUST IN CASE!"

I figured if I have a problem I can set up the other one. I think cutting them off cold turkey - using the same litter and putting the Litter Robot in the same SPOT and then TOTALLY IGNORING them worked.

I didn't transfer any ANXIETY to them by watching their every move and making THEM NERVOUS!

If you Buy the Litter Robot, Good Luck!
