I just took the plunge

Postby kvandivo » Fri Aug 08, 2003 9:30 am

Just got done ordering my litter robot. They say it will take 2 to 4 weeks to ship. Hopefully it will be quicker than that. :)

I've been a littermaid/clumping litter user for about 5 years now. I've become increasingly annoyed with the littermaid and have finally worked up enough courage to drop the $350 and get the Bot.

I'm also seriously considering making the jump to the worlds best cat litter. I'm pretty sure it will end up costing me more than I spend now, but I'm willing to give it a try and see what happens. Right now, I have 2 adult cats and go through a 35 lb box of clumping litter from Sams (about $8 or 9 bucks) every 3 months or so. I probably don't change it as much as I should. ;)

So, we'll see what happens. I've been thinking about reengineering my littermaid for a long time to fix what ails it. Hopefully I just ordered something that will fix the problems for me.

I ordered one about a week ago too, but they told me 4-6 weeks... NO FAIR that they told you 2-4 weeks! LOL

I hope it's worth the 400 bucks I spent on it - YIKES!!

Yep.. I just checked my mail again...

"Please note: Shipping will occur
within
2-4 weeks."

/me dances around happily.

I've found a place locally that looks like they have Worlds Best Cat Litter for around $1.15 a pound. I haven't found anywhere better than that yet.

Ahhh you ordered online.... I called and ordered by phone, and Lauren said due to high demand it's going to take up to 4-6 weeks for them to deliver on all orders. If you go to their website it also says that on their price page.

But ya never know, I hope we get them sooner - I can't wait, I'm tired of cleaning the litter box every day.... ugh!

I've never used WBCL, I just use Tidy Cats cuz it's cheap... LOL It works pretty good in my opinion though, I don't see a need to buy expensive litter.... I've tried other expensive brands, and found they all do about the same job.

Good luck with your LR!

Well I ordered mine on July 28th, and just got an e-mail saying it shipped out on Aug 8th, so delivery time is about 2 weeks... which sounds much better then 4-6 weeks like they told me!

So you should get yours pretty soon too...

Woot woot!

I've been getting my two squirts switched to WBCL. They seem to be taking to it relatively well. And, it sounds like I can expect my robot before too awfully long. Very cool. Thanks for the update.

I'm still waiting patiently for mine. I got mail from Lauren herself a couple of days ago saying that it had shipped. After checking the fedex site on friday I figured that I wouldn't get the robot until monday. Then, at 7:32 yesterday morning it was put "on the fedex vehicle for delivery'. I checked the fedex site help and discovered that the fedex home service apparently does saturday delivery. So, I was all excited and anxious to try things out. I waited around all day yesterday for it to show up, but never never did... *mutter mutter*.
Alas, it obviously wasn't meant to be. ;(

Oh well.. Tomorrow will hopefully be my lucky day. (at least the fedex guy should come by my house. Don't know if he will leave it or not..)

So, I got home last night and had a big box waiting for.. And I do mean big.. probably 3.5 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot.

Got it in, opened it up..

Moved my old litter maid to the garage, put the robot in its place, played with it a bit, figured out how it worked, etc..

The cats were pretty well uninterested in it. Put the WBCL in it, threw a handful of the old on top of it.

I couldn't _get_ the cats to be interested in it.. (it's some law, isn't it? if you want them to be, they aren't. if you don't want them to be, they are)

Anyway, went to bed.. Heard it go off this morning about the time I got up. Checked, and no "presents" were in the tray. So, they must have investigated enough to trip the sensor.

Got ready for work, heard some scratching in the "litter room".. Went in and one of my cats had defecated right _next_ to the robot. So, I moved the excrement to the litter robot and came to work, after closing all possible doors that I could in the house to limit the area in which they could leave me surprises.

The saga continues.

Ahhhh not good, sorry to hear that. I guess I was very lucky with my 2 kittens, they love the thing... luckily they started using it immediately. The fascination still hasn't worn off, they still love watching it spin.

I know you said before you just recently switched to WBCL.... so try using their old brand of litter in the LR, and maybe they'll start using it. New litter and a new litter box might be too much change for them at one time, so try to gradually working them into changing things and see if that helps...

Good luck!

Ash's suggestion +

Postby cas » Tue Aug 26, 2003 11:16 am

I agree with Ash. You might want to get them used to one change at a time. We are still mixing WBCL with clay, because someone got sick during our switch. We are taking it slow until his bladder infection is known to be in the past.

The other thing we did when we switched is leave the old box. We did not clean it. We let it pile up and get gross. We felt that the cats would eventually choose the clean LR over the gross what-they-were-used-to box. It worked.

Best of luck.
