Activation step or low sensitivity?

Postby hoopy » Sun Jun 04, 2006 2:53 pm

I keep increasing the sensitivity on my LR. We've had it 3 full days. Our cat is around the 5 lb size right now. Sometimes the cycle runs and sometimes I check it and she's been in it but no red light/cycle. Has anyone had this problem?

Is it possible for a cat to jump in without hitting the ledge that activates a cycle? Just looking for some help. Thanks.

Sensor

I have one birman girl that steps so lightly in and back out that even at 8 pounds she often does not set it off. I just make it a habit to glance in there everytime I walk by.

Where my 10 pound boy jumps in while it is turning LOL and rides it the last bit of the cycle after a manual restart.

One cheesy way to increase the sensitivity even more is to prop the back of the LR a little. I don't think they recommend the LR for cats this light. If they don't activate the sensor, it could turn on while the cat is in the globe.

In four days we've got it down. The sensitivity level is now working and my small cat is using the box exclusively. We took the old one away yesterday morning.

I can't believe how well it works. And the room smells so much nicer and not a fraction of the mess from a standard litterbox.

A trick I've been using to increase the sensitivity of the sensor is to duck tape a small weighted object under the step. You can use anything from a wrench to a small piece of lead. You can increase the sensitivity a lot by doing this. We have a small kitten that trips the sensor now.
