Any Problems if the cat is not declawed?

Postby TeknoHippE » Sat May 13, 2006 10:42 pm

Hi, I plan on ordering a litter robot soon, probably with in the next week, however I saw a post in one of the topics where someone mentioned the liner got a hole in it which kind of worries me because of the fact that my cat still has his claws and I don't intend on getting him declawed. I've used the 'litter box liners', that are pretty much just a cheap piece of plastic that lines the box I know, but he manages to tear them them up pretty good so I just stopped using them, I'm worried about him doing the same with the Litter Robot, so to get to my questions, do other people still have cats that have their claws? Is this a problem with the liner that the litter robot has? From what i understand it's a piece of rubber that basically provides a level area for the litter to sit and it may have some sort of sensor on it as well but I'm not clear on that part. Anyways, ok so I asked more than one question but I don't want to drop $350 on the litter robot if he's going to shred it after the first time he uses it.

Any responses would be appreciated.

Thanks

The liner is very strong. I doubt it will be an issue. The LR guys really stand by their warranty, too.

The rubber liner appears to be made of EPDM, the stuff used in flat roofs and pond liners. It's a very very tough material.

Liner Material

Postby APCP_Inc » Thu May 18, 2006 8:38 am

Hi there,

The liner is made of a very tough PVC (Vinyl). We used to make the liners with a Santoprene material which was much more prone to ripping. The liner's purpose is to contain the mess in the bottom half of the globe and to also aid in clump release. There is a steel weight encapsulated in the bottom of the liner which causes it to invert during the clean cycle which releases any persistent clumps.

So I placed the order this morning, and it says "Expected delivery tomorrow" If this is true and the product is as great as everyone says, I will not regret spending a single penny
